Furbabies' Adventures

Whoever wants to pignap Kylie, has to live with her. XD
But to humans she is a mostly nice piggy. She likes to be stroked while she is in the cage. She even let me stroke her during the bonding and it calmed her down a bit.
She can be quite timid and ... yes, she likes nipping. She wouldn't be head of GPFANS if she wouldn't love to nip.

And just by the way: She does know how to defend herself against pignappers.

Pino would deserve a threat on his own.
He met the girls a little less than two weeks ago. On their first evening together, the girls were desperate for evening free roaming since they hadn't been back for long from their holiday sitter. So Pino decided to come out of the cage and explore the living room.

On the second evening he decided that the living room was boring and went to explore the rest of my flat on his own. It took me quite some time to find him and catch him under my bed.
My flat is mostly piggy proofed but it's been a few years since the last piggy(s) left the safety of the living room.

Now we have reached a compromise. In the morning they have to stay in the living room. In the evening Pino also has access to my study and the hall. The kirchen is off limits at the moment though I might open it up in the future. The bedroom is definitely off limits.

Now Pino runs around in the study and hall, doing zoomies and exploring every corner, especially the really small and dusty ones.

He has already started taking food from my hand and knows that he has to come back to the cage if he doesn't want to be chased and caught.

Yesterday he gave me a real fright. At first I couldn't find him at the end of free roaming time. Nothing new there...
Then I saw his little body laying under my sofa in his favourite spot, head facing away from me. Was he still breathing?
I talked to him. No reaction.
I tried to get a better look. No reaction.
I reached under the sofa to touch him ... which finally woke him up.
The little guy was death napping under my sofa after this short time since he moved in. He is quite a character.

What a sweetie Pino is - he’s clearly at home with you all ! ❤️
I’d watchout for those piggy nappers 😂
Maybe offer Kylie first ( little rascal 🤭)

He’s clearly made himself at home and has you wrapped around his paws 🥰
Me definitely,
the girls ... I'm not so sure.
They seem to be pretty exasperated by his behaviour because he loves to run at high speed without really looking if somepig is in the way and trying to steal food from their mouths like youngsters would do.
Today I saw Vicky telling him off twice, Bonny once and they are usually the placid ones.

Today wasn't as hot as the last days or the coming days, so we took the opportunity to have a day out in the garden.
Bonny, Kylie and Pino enjoyed it a lot, Vicky was a bit overwhelmed.
It was a fun but exhausting day for them.

When we got home the girls were eager to get out of the boxes and back into the cage but I had to wake Pino up. He was fast asleep. He really is a very special boy ... sometimes I'm afraid that he is too good to be true. I never had a pig like him before.

The piggies are still tired after yesterday's adventure. It was the second evening that Pino stayed in the living room snoozing under my sofa. 😴
The heat wave has flared up again today. We are expecting up to 36 or 37 ° on Thursday. 🙈🥵
At the moment the temperature is still okay inside but I'm not looking forward to these high temperatures.

Today they had a piggy bag from the garden.

36 o is very hot. It’s only upper 20s here but hotter down south.
Do you use frozen water bottles or freezer packs for them ?

So far the temperature in my flat is only a bit over 26°. That's okay for my group.
We will see what the next days will bring.
Today I put a tile into the cage. It's also cool if somepig would like to sit on it. But so far they are wondering what this tile is doing in their cage. :hmm:

So far we have made it through this heat wave. The piggies are okay but the higher temperatures are not ideal for Kylie's behaviour. I think that she would really benefit from a guinea pig antiaggression training. Her newest favourite victim is Pino.
On the positive side: Kylie and Vicky are really friendly with each other. Kylie probably likes the fact that Vicky tells Pino off regularly.
