Furbabies' Adventures

The piggies were well looked after and Kylie and Vicky have stayed with my friend a number of times. So they felt at home at once.
Kylie destroyed one hammock by gnawing at it :yikes: (something she has never done at home before but maybe she had too little to gnaw on. She is my little beaver.)
Pino of course charmed my friend with his cute nature.
And luckily there were no catastrophes while I was away. 😅
 
Once back home, Vicky gave me a good nip and Kylie was a little skittish at first but they enjoyed being back in their usual cage, everypig in their favourite hideys at once.
Pino was galavanting around my flat at free-roaming time. He obviously had to check if everything was still in it's place.
And later on he demanded evening treats. :love:

Sounds like they had a lovely holiday too but glad to be home 🥰

I managed to.find a bit of green in our heat-suffering garden to bring home to the piggies.
Pino is doing all right, the girls are more stressed by the heat, especially Vicky who lost some weight last week.
They have got a bowl with water, a tile and a cooling pad in the cage. But unfortunately these are either ignored or avoided because they could be very evil things.

I ordered two cooling houses today but it will be some time before we get them.
I also bought two fancy pads to put cooling pads into. But they will probably be afraid of those as well.

I've got something like this: CoolPets Cooling Disc | Pets | Order now
It has the same meassures as the snuggle safe heat pad. So I can use the same fleece cover. It cools for many hours.
But my piggies won't go near it.

I've ordered a cooling house where you can put common cool pads in the roof. This sounds like a very good idea and the piggies shouldn't be scared of it. But they won't arrive for some time yet.

I use them as well. They aren't quite so spooky but they just sniff once and don't go near them again. I'm hoping to trick them with different fleece covers that I ordered online on Saturday. But they probably won't really work either.

I have an ice pod which I think may be from Scratch and Newton.
The cover was made by a forum member.
I’ve had them for a very long time.

I also use a small bottle of frozen water wrapped in a tea towel.
I’ve had piggies who loved them but Moses and Miriam seem to be ignoring them.IMG_7303.webp Ruth and her ice pod

One of my boys' cardboard box hideys was big enough to include a frozen water bottle so it was used, the other one was largely ignored just somewhere in the cage. If they can lie on them, rather than alongside them, I'm hoping they might be better used.
 
It's cooler outside since Wednesday evening and it's starting to be comfortable inside now as well. Indoors really takes a lot of time to really cool down. Luckily we are getting a short break with temperatures only around 28/29/30°C max for a few days.
Unfortunately the grass in the garden turned to hay. We had a dry spring, then a bit of rain in May and now this...
I probably won't be able to take the piggies to the garden with me this year because there is hardly anything left they could feast on.
Well, at least they are all cooler now. (And me too)
 
Only 30C 😔 It's strange how quickly we have adjusted to 28C - 30C being almost the new normal in summer 🙁

Low 20s and very windy here today
 
Last night I had to do her nails. She wasn't amused and started to attack my fingers. She bit into my finger, without breaking the skin but it really hurt. I reacted quite loud and told her off. And she got the message!
That's a first one. :yikes:
She let me do the rest of her nails without any further bites.
