At the moment my piggies are on burgess supa guniea and theyre eating everything except the pellets in it so I'm trying to convince them to eat the burgess excel nuggets instead but they refuse is there anything i can do ? mallethead

One maur thing, try covering it in something they like, try and get the scent of something like a carrot or cucumber, might trick them into eating it

Mine have gone off Burgess over a year ago.

The best way to get them to eat it is not to offer an alternative, so they have to eat it when they are hungry and then stick it out. Alternatively, try another product. Guinea pigs won't suffer from not eating pellets for a few days (or their whole life, as in Germany, for example), so if necessary, you can stick it out. Make sure that you change the pellets regularly, so they don't get pooed and peed upon.

I stuck it out with mine, based on advice from here, and only offered them the pellets. Hay unlimited and Veg twice a day, after 3 days they started eating the pellets too. ;)

I feed mine the Burgess Excel pellets (plus the blackcurrant and oregano ones) and I give them some of the Burgess supa too. They never eat the pellets out of the supa - obviously they are not tasty rolleyes

The piggies are all different, but I did the same, loads of hay, fresh food and left the pellets until they ate them. Was hard, but worked in the end because they eat up well now.

I'm not sure about the Supa - it smells funny to me, whereas the pellets and the blackcurrant ones smell lovely :)

I'm new to piggies and i bougth the burgess brand thinking it would be the healthiest for them i might try a different brand maybe I'll try the black currant ones ;)

Just try a different brand of piggie food and see if they like it. If they don't, keep trying. Free samples can be requested from companies websites if you don't want to be buying it all.

Hope this helps, Guineagurl

I found my two and also girlfriend's pig like the WAGG food. Got little bits of everything, and they do pretty much eat a bowl full over the course of a night :3

I have a bag of wagg muesli and Mr Johnson's pellets if you want a sample posting?

That would be great I live in ireland so not sure about postage though :)
