The routine for my two boars is that they get dried food at breakfast time, and veggies at teatime, with unlimited hay the rest of the time.

Yesterday evening I went out  which is a rare occurrence for me. So hubby and kids had to feed the pigs, and they gave them courgette and cauliflower. They have always hated courgette, and they sometimes eat cauliflower but not always. So this morning I found all the veggies totally untouched :(

Now, I don't want to encourage picky eating, but I must admit I gave them some extra veggies this morning (a head of pak choi, which they love). Do you think I was right to do that, or should I refuse to give them extra unless they eat what they are given?

It just occurred to me that I am softer on the animals than my kids. If my kids leave their dinner, they don't get given anything else ;D

Animals don't have the minds to understand that leaving food means they won't get anymore until they've eaten what they've got. It's like smacking a guinea pig because it wees on your carpet! They would have no idea why you would do this, as they can't connect the two in their minds. Psychology!

I have 2 piggies they are 10weeks old (had them since they were 4weeks ) They just adore curly Kale, grapes, banana & plums but they won't touch cucumber. I buy different fruit & veggies every week for them to try & anything they don't like are given to my husband.....it's a good job he isn't as fussy as the piggies. They are spoilt rotten.

oh my max is fussy like if i give him len today he might not eat it but if i give it him in 2 or 3 days time he will eat it

i jsut give him the same as what my other 11 piggies get and if he dont eat it thats his problem

as with habing 12 piggies there all got the same meal meal each meal time (apart from satrday night when 5 of them have peppers )

I hadn't thought about it like that, but you're right of course. They have done pretty well today in the end, a bowl of dry food and a head of pak choi for breakfast, 4 hours on the (very long) lawn this afternoon, then spinach and green beans for tea :D They should sleep well tonight after all that lot!

Glad my kids aren't fussy eaters - they will eat the courgettes and cauliflower no problem (although my 4 year old has just eaten her own weight in chinese takeaway ::)).
