My boys seem very fussy with fruit/veg. They are on Gerty Guinea Pig food but I've noticed they always leave the same bits uneaten.
They also eat plenty of hay & have saved me cutting the grass as they eat so much!

They eat carrot everyday aswell as cucumber but the only other thing they ever seem to eat is grapes and sweetcorn (baby sweetcorn seems a fav aswell)

So far i've tried:
all colours of peppers
apple
radishes
lettuce
kiwi fruit
tomatoes
strawberries
cherries
celery (which they did eat a bit of one day then snub the next day)
spring onions
Satsuma

I've been growing parsley & coriander in the garden but they don't like that either!

I've got a butternut squash to try them with this week

What else can I give them as they seem so fussy & I'm woried they won't be getting enough from what they are eating?
Can I try mango, I've got one in the fridge?

Can I also give them cabbage?
I usually google new foods to see what web pages say but cabbage seems to be an opinion splitter?

Or am I overreacting? Do they just seem fussy as they have never tried any of this stuff before? Will they grow up to be better eaters? lol

mine must be fussy as well like sweetcorn carrots and adore cucumber and spinach and tomates. but i have tried grapes cabbage broc cauli mango raspberries strawberries blackberries blue berrys have a taste and thats it tried basil and parsley is corgettes ok for them was wondering if they will like them cause might think they are cucumber

When you give them new foods, do you leave them with the pigs for as long as possible? My method is to introduce one new food at every meal for three days. Leave the new food with them as long as possible - don't let it spoil, but give the pigs a good while to have a taste. If they won't touch it after three days, leave it for a couple of weeks and then try again.

Perseverence tends to pay off...it took a year to get my lot eating peppers!

If your pigs are selective feeding from the Gerty, it's worth switching to a plain pellet feed. This will prevent selective feeding and give them a more rounded diet, as opposed to getting the fewer nutrients that are only in the bits they are eating and leaving the bits that have different nutrients.

Cabbage is fine to feed, the general consensus and my own experiences are to limit it though. A few piggies can be prone to gas and so may be sensitive to cabbage, broccoli and kale, all of which are fairly 'gassy' veggies. If you're going to feed cabbage- or indeed any fresh fruit or veg - daily, then give it in small amounts, and feed a variety of other things alongside it. Mango is also safe to feed.

You're not overreacting, you have done the right thing in checking and asking others opinions. A lot of piggies are fussy eaters. It's best to get them used to a wide variety when they are young, the older pigs can be a bit more stubborn when it comes to trying new things, but then the young ones prefer to try new foods only when they see an adult eating it... You'd think feeding piggies was simple but they always find a way!

...is corgettes ok for them was wondering if they will like them cause might think they are cucumber

Courgettes (zucchini) are fine. I find it's a food that they either love or hate though!

your pigs sound like my max who is fussy and has been seice i got him when he was 12 weeks old he is now 2 and half at the moment he doing good with his eating

some weeks he will eat everything i give him like he is doing now other weeks I'm lucky if he eats any veg or fruit

his wight his fine and he is a healthy pig he seems to do fine with just eating his dry food hay and grass ad drinking water when he wont eat his veggies or fruit

sometimes he wont even eat the stuff he likes

i have got to the stage where he gets the same as my other 11 piggies (whi eat anything) and if he dont eat it he dont eat it an d he has never had any healthy problems either

my piggies love everything apart from peppers, they love rocket, which suprised me thought it would be too strong for them.rolleyes

try
green beans,
brocoli stalk,
cauliflower leaves,
chicoree,
melon rind (yellow),
pear skin,
spinach

most of mine have liked most of those...

for health reasons i would try to give more veg instead of fruit, fruit shouldnt be given as often as vegies, green and leafy veg are usually a favourite xxxxxIm not sure if spring onions are ok as they are a type of onion can anyone enlighten me?
