Fussy pigs!

Well all my sample packs arrived from the easter fundraiser, so i gave them their normal "just grass" this morning before i noticed that the hay rack was mostly empty so i put the leftover little bit of pampered piggies hay on the floor. Before refilling the hay rack with OXBOW timothy hay, they were going nuts with the rustling of the plastic bag! well cottonbud came up and smelt the hay and then went back to the little pile of pampered piggies that in on the bedding hay, furby has gone to bed it was that uninteresting8... Jive is the only one who is interested and even he is not overly sure..... and within 5 mins of putting it up everyone is in bed asleep:{

I thought this way hay nirvana!

lets hope that they like the other 4 choices?
 
Don't worry Roger wasn't that interested in Oxbow timothy, the orchard grass on the other hand he loves, the jury is out on the botanical. :))
 
Mine are not particularly fussed about the oxbow timothy either. They'll eat it if there's nothing else around, but nothing more than that. The botanical one they get for travelling, I think it's nice for them to pick at herbs and so, but they aren't more excited about that than their regular hay.

I think it just shows that your piggies are used to getting only the very best and exciting from you! (I think I can compare your feeling about the hay to the stuff I've sewed for the piggies that they've completely ignored...)
 
I am just a bit diasppointed as i was not keen on buying USA hay but thought i should buy some to see if the piggies liked it breaking my morals on food miles....
 
Petra my piggies ignored the cozies I made for them too! but i think that is because their cage is so comfy already!
 
Oh dear :( We cant have unhappy piggies can we. Ours are the same with Oxbow though, I dont know if it is because a drier hay than others, the Oxbow one always seems quite brittle to me, compared to say, American Western Timothy. Our rabbits dont like it either, but they all go mad for the Botanical and the Orchard Grass. Hope they like one of the others.
 
well that was the point on buying samples rather than whole bags! might donate the ones they don't like to cavy rescue and retreat where i volunteer if they are truly not interested!
 
Mine were neither up nor down about the Oxbow Timothy when I frst got it, then after about a week they suddenly decided it was the best thing ever :))

Now they are ignoring the Botanical I thought they'd love so I'm going to give it a week again, just in case! They also loved the Burgess Fresh Forage for a while and now they completely ignore that too :( Fussy piggies :))
 
Mine like both the oxbow timothy and the orchard grass. They wont eat the Burgess anymore either. They can be fussy creatures can't they!

I say persevere with the oxbow and wait and see, what were they eating before pampered piggies stuff? I don't suppose we can get that hay any more :(
