The more summer moves on, the closer the time gets for me to get my piggies, and I realized I'm really stressed about getting another couple of piggies because of what happened to Hash. :( I'm like stressing like crazy that they're gonna have or get mites, or get the same fungal thingy Hash had. The doctor said that humans and other animals can contract it, and it can get in the carpets or something (he was french so i could barely understand him, but that's the gist of what i got) so I'm scared that I have the fungal thing and don't know it, or it's still in my carpet or on Hash's old pigloo. I washed in it super boiling hott water with dish soap but i'm still scared. :... I don't want to hurt the poor piggies when i get them. I'd rather have no piggies than end up hurting, or even worse... killing them. Should I just chill out, or am I warranted to be this anxious? I don't know, I guess I just wanted to complain a bit. :{

Maybe use some disinfectant for all his previous washable toys etc...
And instead of housing them on the carpet have them raised :)
You could also have your carpets steamed and sanitised.....
I'm sure you'll get some more helpful ideas from everyone :)

now here you need this.....

Disinfectant like lysol? Do I rinse it off after? And I built them a hutch that i plan on having in my room but it's not really raised off the floor, and i don't think my parents will pay for the steam cleaning. :\ Do you think if i sprayed a lot of disinfectant on my carpet and let it dry that would work? :o

sorry had to nick out to do the banking etc.. for work

Yes a disinfectant like that, but then make sure you clean down again with hot water and wipe dry :) i would use disposable paper towel and then you can throw that out too.
Why don't you give one of your local carpet people a call and tell them your concerns, explain too that you can't use anything too harsh as you'll be having more pets...... and you don't want to be sniffing any horrible smells either :{

maybe you could ask your folks if you could have something like a small table that you could put the hutch on top of that....... make sure tho that it's secure :)

sorry to keep adding stuff i just had the idea pop into my head!

No, no, every little bit helps :D
Those are good ideas, i think i'll do that! Thankyou so much. (:

Yes, disenfect the carpet. Clean the cage well. Hope your new piggies don't get mites/fungal infection that your other guinea got...

well the cage has never been used before. I just built it. But thanks. (: I'm just really worried cause I think Hash had those problems her whole life, and i'd never noticed anything was wrong. I don't want to make my new little babies suffer the same way.

You wont because you know what to look for now. Remember you are not a trained vet, all you can do is try to learn as much as you can and do your best. I've every confidence your new piggies will have an excellent home with you. ((HUGS))
