Absolutely awful if you ask me. How many people are going to want guinea pigs now just for the cute factor. Irresponsible film makers simply not looking at the bigger picture!
While the film will be fun, I too am dreading the number of poor piggies that are going to end up in rescues due to this. Rataouille, the tale of desperaeux (new movie with the hero being a mouse) ....I wish they put, at the beginning or the end, a little short about how the star of the movie needs careful loving and please think before going out and buying the beasties.
The place where we get our fish had after the film Finding Nemo signs up saying We do not sell Nemo's, quite right too! They are clown fish. Somebody put 5 in a cold water tank and wondered why they died!
The girls and I watch Wizards on The Disney Channel and Alex turned her mum and dad into Guinea pig, next thing you saw was guineas in a hamster ball! It just gives the wrong message. For rescues and people trying to educate it's one step forward then two steps back!
Yeah I cant stand it when parents buy their kids an animal because they nag them for it and then aren't prepared to look after it when the kid (not surprisingly) gets bored.
My local pet shop are really good and are very strict on who they give pets to and always ask you lots of questions to check you're serious.
At the moment they're not letting people get any animals as it's Christmas. The last day you could pick a pet up was the 17th and they're not selling any more pets now until the 27th.
