Garden Grass Can I Give It?

Hi all I've never kept piggies before and I am just wondering if I can give my piggies some grass from my back garden? I live in Manchester so it's cold but the grass is still very green and longish. My back garden is not near a road and is free of any chemicals. My plan was to get my children to gather a bit of grass wash it and put it in the cage for them, would this be okay? Also how often can you give things like fresh grass? I really am clueless so any advice would be great!
 
That's fine, they can eat a full range of food, buy good quality nuggets, hay. Grass is fine as long as no dogs have been on grass. Cage size is important for boys as well. Where are they being housed?
 
I have some pig dry food as well and have been looking at all the vegetables they can eat all very exciting I've brought a huge cage for two of them, at first the lady tried to get me to get a smaller cage but I wouldn't buy it. They are going to live indoors with us my living room is two rooms knocked into one so their going in the quieter half away from the tv.
The grass was grown from grass seed by me so sounds like it should be fine :)

They can eat grass, as long as it is not frozen or as long you don't have dogs using the same grounds; dog pee is poisonous to guinea pigs.

Please be careful to introduce any grass and fesh veg slowly and gradually if they are not used to fresh food yet (please enquire when you pick them up what they are used to), otherwise you can end up with diarrhea until their guts have got used to it. If necessary, dry any very wet scissor-cut grass at this time of the year with a bit of kitchen paper.

Great that you have insisted on a big cage - young boys need all space they can get!
 
I give mine grass most days. They are all adults and I introduced them to it very carefully. They love it (they love all food in fact)!
 
I pick grass from the garden, wash and drain well in the warmer weather. During the winter months, our piggies have Readigrass as an alternative :)
