hi all,
doing a spot of gardening and need to use some type of week killer on dock leaves. only problem is i let my guinea pig run free while i am at work ( he has access to his hutch too) anyway just wondering if anyone knows how long i will have to keep him inside or in hutch so he wont get poisioned. thanks

Not sure where you live but I think you are taking a big risk leaving your guinea out while you are not around. There are birds of prey that could easily take a guinea no problems, also someone posted about magpies a few days ago attacking their guinea inside a run at that, made a mess of it's leg, it had pecked down to the bone. The poor guinea was really traumatised. Also cats can be a problem too. I have just put weed and feed on our lawn and I believe you are supposed to mow it three to four times before allowing them back on it. If you can I would get a run that maybe attaches to your piggies cage, so he can still get out and about, but is safe when you treat your dockleaves.
 
The best thing to do with docks is to dig them out ,making sure you get right under the root as they go quite deep. Best if luck!
