Garry has lost weight recently and he really is quite skinny. He does sometimes have a bit of a problem with poo and his rear end, but otherwise he seems to be eating and drinking normally - he's at the food bowl chewing away and also eats his veg.

I was wondering what I could try feeding him to bulk him up a bit? I'm away on holiday at the moment but will be going home soon so want to get him back up to speed.

Any suggestions will be appreciated!:)

I find Readigrass good for bulking up but feeding 'fatty' foods won't help him put on condition, even if it helps the weight.

Do you know how much he's actually eating? It might be that he looks like he's always eating but isn't actually getting that much down him, especially if he lives with another pig.

How much weight has he lost, and have you had a look at his teeth (sure you have, but best to check!).

Hope he's ok

How much weight has he lost, in what space of time? My first concern would be to find out what is causing the weight loss.

I have given him a check over but because I'm now away, I can't do anything right now. He's lost a fair bit of weight but it's been a gradual thing, not helped by the poo thing.

I'll take him to the vet when I get home for a proper check if he's not improved in the meantime. He lives with Minty who isn't a greedy pig and they share their food. They have a continuous supply of dry food and hay so there is always stuff available for them both.

Hope he's ok - how old is he now? My Captain Jack has lost a lot of weight but I think it's age as he's had everything else checked. He's always eating too, or seems to be!

2 years is too young to be losing weight due to age. Definitely think it would be wise to get everything checked! Has he ever been "wormed" - treated with oral Ivomec and Panacur?

Good luck, hopefully he'll start gaining weight again soon!

Try him with Metatone, 0.4ml, daily for 3-4 days.
Just be aware that the vet may say that the pig must have dental problems and needs his teeth to be trimmed under a general anaesthetic...

awwwwwww love sorry to hear about Garry :(
As soon as you go to vets and get him to check over i'm sure with TLC and lots of patience you'll have him back to his normal self again x)
Whee all send loves, wheeeeeeeeks and kisses from us all xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

Hi, sorry Garry is under the weather. Hopefully, you can sort him out and help him recover. Best of luck, keep us up to date. x
