Has anyone with gassy pigs ever noticed any difference in gassiness with certain hays? The one I'm wondering about is Oxbow timothy, which mine eat stacks of (unfortunately for my bank balance! rolleyes) Mine get half dust free meadow and half Oxbow timothy, and I'm thinking of trying them on just dust free at some point to see if there is any difference in gassy Cassie, but can't really make any changes at the moment while I have a skinny Holly.

I'd be very interested to hear what others think, and obviously any experiences. :)

Haven't noticed much more gassiness as such, I used to feed the Oxbow Orchard Grass which they couldn't get enough of but it seemed a bit too rich for poor Pepe's tummy as he used to get sporadic soft poos. I now do the same as you and mix in a little Orchard Grass now with the Dustfreehay hay as a treat and we haven't had an upset tummy since, although it could just be coincidence!

I wondered this too Sarah, but for my gassy ones at least I have ruled it out. My lot have been on Oxbow Orchard Grass exclusively for 2 months now, there really has not been any change in Dexter's condition since the change - he was as gassy on meadow hay as he is on Oxbow!

So far I know that cabbage and dried peas (occasional treat) aggravate the condition. I highly suspect broccoli and kale will have the same effect.

Thanks. I definitely want to try it at some point, if I can get Holly stable with her weight.

I've so far decided that kale makes Cassie particularly gassy , but then everything seems to to some extent.
