Finny is suffering with gas at the moment. His weight has gone up to 1890g. So off he goes to the vets this morning and is given cisapride, ranatadine and the recommendation of infacol. Reading through the previous posts on here I have brought him woodwards gripe water instead. He has had his first lot of cisapride and ranatadine this morning and just had his first lot of gripe water. He is also on glibenclamide for his diabetes (he is due that tonight). Can some-one please advise me on whether I need to space his medicine apart or can he have it all together. Many thanks.

I would space the gripe water and the ranitidine, as well as his diabetes meds. You can give gripe water every 3-4 hours in an acute emergency, but I would recommend to run it past your vet to make sure that it is not interfering with his diabetes meds, as I do not have any experience with gassy diabetes piggies.

infacol is perfectly safe for episodes of gassy/frothy bloat (the name the vets tend to give it) so if the vet has recommended that then i would give it. in this type of gas, it doesn't do what people say online which is form the small bubbles into big one, it actually works by popping the bubbles instead. i discussed it with our specialist vet when he recommended it for eddie last year :)

i'd be wary of giving anything not prescribed because as wiebke says, they know the current health condition of your piggy so will have taken this into account :)
