General Question

Hey guys,

I just have a general question.
Are guinea pigs nocturnal?
I didn't think they were until I read it in my guinea pig book.

I don't think they are. Mine are always awake and running around in the morning and throughout the day. They do power nap with their eyes open… They have stranger sleeping schedules then most humans

Thanks my pigs are awake all day except when they are having short naps

No, they're not nocturnal. They sleep for short bursts throughout the day and night.

Guinea pigs are not nocturnal, but they are usually up once or twice during the night to feed; youngsters may also popcorn and play.

Piggies sleep off and on during the day, too. They are most active in the mornings and late afternoons/evenings which is their main feeding time - afterwards they go and sleep off a full tummy!

I think they have the perfect lifestyle.. They sleep when they want and potter around when they please. Ours have just awakened from 'piggie downtime' and are all currently noming hay
