Hi I know this is a very general question regarding vet fees. Just wondered what people pay for check ups or taking your guinea pig to the vet in general. I know this is going to differ per area..I'm in widnes Cheshire and am finding the vets I've rung so far charge per guinea pig that they look at... one that I was recommended as an exotic specialist wanted £21 per guinea pig... that can't be right... £42 for a check up? Going to keep ringing places but up to know a lot don't charge for the consultation to see the vet but per pet you take.. while others can't tell you if the price goes up with a second guinea pig. Hard work this vet lark... thankfully they arnt I'll and I have the time
 
We had our first vet visit today, and so now I just have to wait for the bill to arrive.
It probably won't come for a month or so, but after the appointment I realized I have no idea what vets here charge for a consult!

Although in your case I do think it seems a bit unfair to charge per pig for a basic check up.
Well done for looking into this before you actually need it.
 
Mine vary depending on who I see, the partners know me and tend not to charge per pig but the other vets do. A basic check is about £15. The specialist vet I also go to charges £30 per pig I think but he is worth his weight in gold as he has saved 2 of my pigs now.

Well argued the point at the place that charged 21 per pig... it seems it depends on the vet you get. So only paid 21 for the two... BUT they have tiny little brown things... think she said mites? Very common n given me drops to put on the top of their necks now and again in 2 weeks. Said their skin was fine and no hair falling out so I take it its not serious. Anyone know what this will be. I was so busy trying to make sure they didn't run off once I got out my mind went blank again!
