Hello, thought I'd just post this before I ring the vet.

I have two sows, and today I picked up one of them and noticed she had like stringy mucus coming out of her lady parts. I wiped it away and it came out even longer! The other girlie is a little bit crusty down there but nothing like what my first piggie has. I just checked again on first piggy with stringy mucus stuff and now it looks like a greeny discharge is coming out. I'm very worried. They have both been eating and drinking fine.

Any info would be much appreciated. Like I said I am going to ring the vet too.

I have never heard of it and it certainly doesn't sound normal, I would ring your vet to be safe.

Good Luck!

I agree. A little bit of discharge when your sow is in season is usual but like this isnt normal so it sounds like vaginitis (infection) get your piggies booked in for a health check with the vet.

x.

this sounds like what happened with my cat when we first got her. she was a stray and had gross stuff coming out of her lady parts, too. the vet had to give her a hysterectomy because she had an infected uterus. i know this is a cat, but both are mammals, and both female, so something to consider?

its possible she has Pyometra which is an extremely serious womb infection so its important you get to the vets ASAP in rare cases it can clear with antibiotics but in a most of the cases ops are needed its that serious, to remove the womb x
