Geoff and Freddy

So …. the boys had a nail trim at the Vet and Geoff had a check up for his joints - all good ! He has slight Cataract in one of his eyes and I think he’s a little deaf.
Freddy had his back feet looked at …they are still dark pink despite soaking with Epsom salts and applying F10 - Vet said she wasn’t worried and just to continue F10 . She said Freddy was a bit overweight he has a double or possibly third chin ! She said she’s not worried as Winter is approaching but to keep a check on his weight. His weight was steadily increasing but has stabilised since June. I’ve limited the readigrass to 1 or 2 times a week and I’ve cut their pellet intake by half and that’s made his weight settle.
Both boys are happy chilled piggies , don’t love cuddles but will take food from me , Geoff doesn't run out now when I call him but that might be due to his nightly joint meds (which he tolerates )or that he is a bit deaf.
Geoff’s impaction is almost nil now ! He prefers to lie down when eating now but he’ll be 6 in January…..

Aw what lovely boys 🥰 Geoff sounds like he is aging gracefully. Glad all is well with them both despite Geoff’s cataracts and joint problems

They’re such sweethearts

Glad the vet trip went well. Overweight? Rude!

During the weekly health check today I discovered something interesting ! The scaly part of Freddy’s ( skinny pig) back is actually from his grease gland ! I’d put some coconut oil on his grease gland and saw the grease come away quickly and cleanly and I put a little on his back and it all came off quickly and cleanly too just with a gentle rub with a soft cloth.

Both boys tolerated their health checks and were both fine ! Freddy’s back feet still dark pink but intact so I’ll keep the F10 application going, as his Vet said.
I’m always so relieved when the health checks are fine and over for another week !

Geoff is 6 today 🎂
He’s a gentle sweet pig who is best friend to skinny pig Freddy

I adopted Geoff just as Covid hit the UK (april 2020) so I never knew his exact birth date. He arrived as a 3 month old piggy with his friend Bobby ( who sadly died after a bladder stone removal op in Oct 2024)
Both boys kept me going then, along with my dear black lab Milo. My work was very difficult during Covid so having 3 boys to look after kept me going 🥰
I feel blessed to have him in my life ❤️
Happy birthday dear sweet Geoff
