Georgie

Welcome to the forum

There isn’t a set amount - you feed until he won’t take any more. He could be able to take 15ml per feeding but it could be as little as 5ml per feeding if he is critically ill. He needs at least 60ml per day but it could be as much as 100ml per day. So the less he takes per feeding, the more feedings you would need to do in a day.

You need to weigh him each morning and then do as many feedings as necessary to keep his weight stable.
So if you weigh him this morning and his weight is the same as yesterday then feed the same amount as yesterday. If his weight is less than it was yesterday then you need to give more critical care today and so on

I hope he is ok

Hi and welcome

I am very sorry that your piggy is not well. How much and how often you feed, depends on how much your piggy is eating during a feeding session and whether they have lost their appetite entirely or not.

If your guinea pig is not eating at all and you are struggling to get 5-10 ml into them each time, then you need to feed ideally every 2-3 hours during the day and aim at 60 ml over 24 hours (40 ml as a minimum). That is the absolute fighting for survival bottom level.

The more you can get into a piggy off their food, the more you can stabilise their weight. You use your normal kitchen scales for checking whether you are getting enough feed into your piggy but as the weight swings around 30-40g in a day, you can only compare morning weigh-ins with other morning weigh-ins (when the weight is lowest) but you cannot compare a first thing in the morning weight with an afternoon weight.

Welcome to the forum, I hope Georgieboy gets better soon ❤️

Hello and welcome to the forum. I hope Georgie is soon on the mend. Sending healing vibes his way.

I’m syringe feeding my Pebble at the moment (5 days in). He’s hardly eating for himself because of a dental problem. He has an op booked for Friday. I managed to get about 80ml into him yesterday and today he’s only dropped a couple of grams. So I’m aiming for at least 80ml today. Hope that helps.
