Just found my white gerbil covered in dry blood but cant see any wounds. Anyone know a good vet in northampton or near thats open

How does your gerbil seem at the moment? Does he/she look poorly? Abington Park Vets are probably your best bet, as they don't charge huge OOH charges like some of the others do.
Hes running about still . I'm.wondering if his bro attacked him but they seem very close still. If anything his bro was protecting him

Ive found the wound its on his neck area. Its not bleeding atall. Its all dry brown blood i found. The vets want £90 just to look at him. I have watched him and he is eating , drinking and running about fine.

The vet said split them both up for a few days, but gerbils de clan after 24 hours, so I'm not doing that.

I'm glad its not his scent gland.

Which practice wanted £90 to see him?

When i found him like it. His litter brother shadow was snuggled with him. I doubt they have had a fight

Oh Vets Now! I have never had a good experience there. They have no idea about guinea pigs or rabbits, so doubt they will have a clue with gerbils.
Yea they seemed a bit like ohh ohh a gerbil, and i wont go to wantage road abington because they dropped my last gerbil from chest height

I think I would watch and wait, especially as he seems fine in himself.
My wife is panicking about being left with him. My plan is to clean the cage out to stop infection. Il use care fresh and nottoo much depth in the cage, so that we can see him

They are both neighboured to my female called abbi. Maybe thats caused a bicker

I've used Vets4Pets for out of hours appointments, but I have had a couple of people tell me recently, that they've refused to see other practices client's. When I called them, they told me they weren't my designated OOH vet and I said that I was choosing not to use my designated one and they said that was fine, but that was a few years ago.

The poor little guy! It probably wasn’t as much blood as it looked to be, I find white fur on any pet makes blood look a lot scarier as it soaks out over the hair.

Let us know what the vets say, don’t blame you for avoiding a practice that dropped one!

It looks like they could have had a little scuffle. Two of mine when I had the five brothers used to sometimes do that. Don't separate them as they won't go back together. Clean him up with a saline solution of cool boiled water from the kettle mixed with one teaspoon of salt and keep an eye on them

Did they work it out? They were and still look close

Yes they did. It happened several times in the two years we had them but as soon as they'd had a scuffle, they were soon back to cuddling each other again so we never separated them. A single tooth puncture makes a hell of a mess but it always looks worse than it is
