Hi all. I have already 3 piggies that are member to our family. Two of them are boys. And that leaves my Apple girl all alone. So I was advice to get her another girl friend since she's alone. So today I was contacted with a lady who has years with experience with piggies. That her two female sows gave birth last night and they each had a girl each. I couldn't just choose one so I have chosen both the girls. One is crested with long hair. And the other one has long hair also. Is it hard to care for long hair piggies? They are just adorable. But I get worried for there long hair. How should I care for there hair? My other two piggies have short hair and my Penny has Mindanao long hair, I think he was a mix with a abbyssian and a long hair. I already had to cute some of hes hair because it was knotted in the bottom. Can any body give me advice of how to care for there hair, when I have my two new girls home. Any advice will be appreciated.

I have mainly long haired piggies and they do require grooming but you can trim the hair to make it more manageable. I keep the peruvians and alpaca shorter around the bottoms to prevent it matting up. As long as you comb them then they will be fine. I spot wash the long haired piggies more then the short haired and I obviously trim the bottoms up and comb them but apart from that they aren't much more trouble :)

I have a coronet and unless i trim him his hair becomes very long very quickly. I trim mine once a month, its still longish but not touching the floor if you know what i mean, i keep it extra short around the bum.
Some longhaired piggies need more regular bathing but i dont find this to be the case with mine, my lot get bathed twice a year only :)

I have an abbyssian girl and a American short hair. But my other piggy Penny is a mix. He has the rossette of a abbyssian but really long hair. I got him in a pet store and he's gorgeous. Recently I bathe him and I hare to trim hes bottom, because he has a knotted area. So now I keep an eye on him. Thanks for the advice about the long hair piggies. I will be keeping an eye on there hair. I do bathe my piggy once a month. And they enjoy it. And there get so cute. I'm looking forward to having 2 new members in the family.
