I am on the fence with getting him a friend. I want V to have babies before he passes on, so I can have a next generation of him. To be able to do that though, I will have to wait until my partner and I get a new apartment (we are living with my partner's Aunt). Until then, I am going to be working and V will be home by himself. : ( I don't want him to be lonely, so I am thinking about getting him a male friend. But I know that males can be territorial and I don't want anything to happen to either of them. I was thinking about getting him a spayed female friend, but when it comes time to try with babies with another female, I don't know if it will work out so well. Lol He might be too attatched to the spayed female to do anything with the unspayed one. Any suggestions?

Firstly, welcome to the forum!

However, 'The Guinea Pig Forum' is 'a rescue friendly forum'! Therefore, discussions about intentional breeding and/or showing are strictly prohibited!

Nevertheless, I will stress that it is completely irresponsible, and unethical to consider using an animal for breeding when you do not know their pedigree!

In regards to adopting a companion for V, personally, I would recommend a baby boar as a companion for V! However, I believe it would be advisable to allow V to experience adolescence prior to adopting a baby boar as a companion - Issues typically occur between two boars of a similar age, experiencing adolescence, due to elevated hormone levels, e.g. testerone! However, I am aware of a large number of people, including forum members, who continue to keep pairs of boars with little, or no issues, providing the boars have enough space etc.

I believe that you are required to contact a moderator, or administrator if you wish for this thread to be locked, or deleted!

However, if you wish to discuss intentional breeding and/or showing, there are several forums on the internet that you may wish to consider joining! However, your reasons for wanting to breed V would be frowned upon by these communties also!

Certainly, I apologise if I my replies are somewhat abrupt, and my intention is not to offend, or upset you! However, I am sure that V would be much happier with a lifelong companion, rather than a companion who he may only be with for a brief period of time!
