So I had guinea pigs about 5 years ago but ended up giving them to a better home as I was starting University and a job and didn’t have enough time for them I loved them so much and we bonded but I knew it was best at that time (they went to a guinea pig heard so they were well looked after). Fast forward to now I am about to graduate and now will be able to look after them and give them all the love they need. Anyway I currently volunteer at an animal sanctuary and want to foster first before I fully commit. They usually foster pregnant piggies out and sometimes have to take them back to the clinic but becuase I go there weekly this is fine. The only issue is where I will keep them. I currently split my time between my house and my boyfriend house. My parents don’t want them at my house as they think they are too messy and my boyfriend said he is happy to foster with the prospect of adopting in the future. But would this work living between 2 houses I am about to start a full time job and they would be able to come with me for the weekend at mine just not full time. Is this appropriate or should I wait until I move out I just wanna help the piggies now as I have time too. Another issue is my boyfriend has 2 cats the piggies would be in a room where the cats would not go and the cage would be cat proof to ensure everything is okay. Does this sound like a good option for piggies I love them so much and have had them before and volunteered for 2 years with them. I know they can get stressed out easily but is there a way I could make it work I just want the best for them I see some of them that come in and just want to give them a good home and some love thank you ❤️

It is great you are so keen to have guinea pigs again, and fostering is a good place to start.
But I would also wait a few more months before you do anything.

It sounds like you are at a very exciting time in your life and there are lots of wonderful changes ahead.
Now is really not the time to be adding another commitment, particularly when it involves live animals who are sensitive and can have time consuming care needs.

I would start the new job, sort out your longer term living arrangements and give everything a while to settle down before you add another variable.
Once you have worked at your job and moved somewhere permanent then you can be honest and realistic about how much time you have devote to another pet.

Yes I agree I might see if I could volunteer another day at the animal sanctuary with the guinea pigs to help them and then get them when I move out in the future thank you for your help ❤️

That makes a lot of sense.
I was just the same when I first started Uni - I thought I would have loads of extra time on my hands and was desperate to rush out and get a dog.
Thankfully my boyfriend at the time told me to wait 6 months and I was so glad I did as Uni ended up taking more time that I thought, plusI already had a horse and found myself doing a lot more with him too. So all the free time I envisioned didin't really work out.
