Saw an advert for a really beautiful guinea pig who has fallen out with his cage mate. He is only young.

He will be coming here on Saturdsy!

Should I keep him in the same room as Mistletoe and Jingle or separate? I know he will need to be quarentined but thought that they could all chat if he was in the same room. He would need to be lower down than the girls due to available space.

Then he will need neutering ... Then leaving separate for at least 6 weeks ...

Any advice most welcome.

His owner sounds really nice and caring and has his ex cage mate and another pair of boys who get on fine together.

Ideally you quarantine in a separate room, but where he can still hear and smell the other piggies unless he is showing signs of acute pining/depression. Once that is over, he can happily live next your your girls, as long as he cannot get at them. Single boars can live next to sows without problems, just not bonded boar pairs unless they have always lived with sows nearby.

Rome italy and eileen's mum, I am soooo excited. As soon as I saw his picture I felt that he was part of the family. He has Mistletoe's markings (white blaze) but with Jingle's orange fur.

Wiebke I hoped you would respond. There is not another room near enough for him to hear the girls, only my bedroom (J and M are in the dining room downstairs) or even the (insulated) shed.

After a couple of weeks I will definitely put him in part of M and J's cage, safely sectioned off.

Thinking of trying to expand their cage once they are all bonded ...

how can I resist before seeing the piggie family all together?:drool::drool:
Mistletoe and Jingle will teach him to eat fresh grass! I foresee you with a larger bag for your grass expeditions!:))
What's about his name now? will you keep his original name or will you change it for something christmassy?:san:

Congratulations! Let us know how he settles, lucky lad getting a home with you!

Rome italy I have been thinking of names. Will wait to see what he called. For some reason I keep thinking of Caramel ... We will see.

Thanks flutterby. I am soooo excited.

Aw thanks sport billy. I did feel a bit guilty getting him from gumtree and not a rescue but I am happy that the owner is genuine and caring.

Got his indoor cage all set up ready for him. Pics tomoz once he is in!

Caramel is a lovely name and also in theme with her wives! caramel is used at Christmas time, too. But his original name might make you change your mind, who knows?:luv:

Aw exciting times in your house. Don't feel bad about where he is coming from, he needs a good home anfd you can give him that home. Sometimes you just see a piggy (or any animal) and it feels meant for you, this has happened to me several times when I'm not even looking. There's a story behind Willow and Bracken it's very long so I won't go into it here but they were meant to be. Spike B/W in avatar picture grabbed my heart when I was 6 years down the line of never having animals again!

Thankyou piggieminder (great user name). Spike looks gorgeous.

I would very much like to hear the story behind Willow and Bracken.

He certainly captured my heart immediately! Cant wait to see him in the fur.

I would like to read the story behind Willow and Bracken... I think it is an inspirational story. When you have time, please share it with us!:)

Tried to get them off camera to laptop but they dont show on the laptop ...

So annoying. Not had these probs before and not doing anything different!

Found 2 pics that would load. Well they show as pics but cannot be shared ...

He's Gorgeous! Loving the white blaze down his schnoz!

The name Caramel suits him. Won't he get confused what his name is though if you change it?

Betsy I love the white on his shnoz too! He wont mind a name change as long as he gets plenty of grass and red pepper! He was called Milo.

God those roborovskis are wonderfully cute piggieminder. I am in heaven in the dining room now. Mistletoe and Jingle on the tables, Caramel in his indoor cage on the floor and three hamster cages. A golden syrian, a chocolate syrian and 3 roborovskis!

I have seen roborovskis in the past and thought they were lovely. I've had syrians before but I have to be sensible, 4 piggys are enough in time and money commitment. Do the roborovskis live together, I have heard they can fall out and have big fights.

My friend had two roborovskis and they fell out and I ended up adopting one. He was a lovely boy!

I had two roborovskis from a well respected breeder. Sadly they did fall out. They lived separately. Flower died a few months back. Fairy is elderly and going strong.

The 3 roborovskis that I got from gumtree are all from separate litters. They are in a smallish tank and have been a group of 6. All added in at different times!

I put Flower and Fairy into 100 x 50cm cage and some people think that they are better off in smaller spaces ...

So yes robos can live together but, a bit like boars, there is a risk of falling out.

Caramel continues to delight with his baby wheeks and his whizzing round the cage.

I cleaned out and picked up both Mistletoe and Jingle today and gave them a trim. There were a lot of angry noises which Caramel joined in with.

As soon as Jingle had had her trim and was settled on my lap eating grass Caramel settled in his cage and all was peaceful once again. Cant wait to get him done and to have him next to the girls eeep.

Oh yes. He already had grass in his previous home so I gave him some straight away. He loves it just like the sows.

He also loves hiding in his hay awww

My pics have appeared on tinypic!
