Look how beautiful she is :smitten:

Shes a lovely girly! :smitten: :smitten: :smitten:

Doesnt look very satin to me, kinda phoebe level satin, but not a shiney as ella (if you know what I mean) ;D ;D I dont know if thats something that changes with age? :-\ ;D

yeah i cant see the satin either, but some are like that i suppose ;D she is cute though :smitten:

PP i remember sometimes wondering if phoebe was definately a satin as she wasnt as shiney as ella ;D

Maybe its cuse shes ivory colour you dont really see it much but i guess if theres less satin shes less prone to the disease ? I dunno how it works but is that how it works or can all satins get OD no matter what ? ?

she is satin and i could see the satin as soon as i saw the piccie but not too much :D

not all of them get it, but i think even a satin carrier can get it ? so it not being as obvious doesnt exactly mean she wont get it. but then again if she was shiney it wouldnt mean she definately would get OD, as not every satin has it

Thanks thought not but just wandered - Thanks O0

I think most of them do get it :(

I have seen a few ivory satins before and they are GORGEOUS! REEEEAAAAALLLY shiney! :smitten: :smitten: :smitten: Sp I dont think thats why she doesnt look satin? :-\

I'm not sure if their are varying degrees of Satin? ?

Lez - I'm not sure about Phoebe...maybe shes a satin carrier? She is more shiney than your average pigger, but no-where near as shiiiiney as Ella! :-\

That pigger has the same geeky face as my phoebe the fat ;D ;D ;D Pheebs aint half got a neck on her now! ;D ;D ;D

how do you tell if a piggy is a satin carrier?

ive been getting a little worried that merlin could have satin in him but its hard to tell with a peruvian when his hair isnt that long.

his back hair doesnt look satin, but his white patches and his face in places do make me wonder sometimes :-\

I can see the satin in her. There's nothing to say the amount of satinisation affects OD. Mine have always lost their satinistation with age as opposed to gaining it (maybe they do gain it though).

Have never seen/heard of carriers with OD. Would like to see anything you have on that Lez :)

I haven't kept enough satins to know ifmost get it :) *Need more* ;D

You can't tell carriers, only Satins. I *think* they need to be bred from to know whether or not they are carriers- but stand to be corrected on that one :)

Are their varying degrees of satin Karen? Like Ella and most (if not all) of your satins are suuper shiney, but that one and my phoebe (the hot cream) arent so satin? :-\

PP i dont think their is actually and i just think its their colours of them that either make it more shiner or not O0

Some satins aren't so shiny as others and can even lose it all eventually. So yes, there are varying degrees. This is what they're judged on at shows first and foremost- the eveness of satinisation.

sorry karen i thought carriers could get it too, guess i got that bit mixed up

guess ill just have to see how merlins hair grows out. he is a confusing piggy. his back end makes me think he's not, but his face and white hair, it has a similar look to what phoebes did which does make me wonder

Oh she is gorgous, how many piggies are you up to now? It must cost you a fortune but, you obviously love them loads

I have 26 and I'm getting 2 at the end of this month - the ivory satin sow and the black rex boar O0 Dont no about any others just yet :smitten:

No, thats not true, the most beautiful (and shiney) pig ive ever seen was an ivory satin :smitten: :smitten: :smitten:

That makes sense karen, thanks for your expertise! I think Pheebs will loose her satin as she gets older, but Ellas got a lot to loose ;D ;D ;D

I think she looks as satiny as any of the others i've seen, it looks to me as if its the light making her look less satiny :) she is lovely :smitten: i'd love a chocolate satin, i think they're chocolate anyways, the brown ones ;D x

;D ;D Arent the choc ones just yummy looking - very gorg :smitten:

Oh she is soooo sweet :smitten:

Cavy what bedding do you use ? It looks like something i use too ;D ;D

it's Auboise O0 O0
Oh right - I dont use that but it looks ever so familiar and the same stuff as what i use ;D
Have you been to the vets with Jasmine to see if she has OD ? :)
