Hey guys! Hope you’re all having a good week so far!

I’m mere weeks away from becoming a guinea dad and the excitement is almost at fever pitch! I have a few questions that popped into my mind that I just wanted some clarity on if that’s ok;

  • So I might possibly be rehoming 2 abyssinian males and was wondering if their coats needed any special care at all?
  • What’s the deal with cardboard in regards to digestion? Is it definitely safe for them to gnaw/eat on one of those houses occasionally. I was thinking if I do ever get them one that I might not leave it overnight in their enclosure so they don’t have constant access to it?
  • Critical Care packs; should I always have one in the house in case of emergency, or just order them when it’s (hopefully not) needed? As I’ve seen that some of these have a rather short “use by” date.

Mine love a carrot cottage. You could always get your piggies those. They are made to be eaten and they are perfectly safe to be left in with them full time. They tend to end up as a wee'd in boat then I chuck them out. You need a medium or large carrot cottage for your piggies. Also hay cubes are great fun. Make sure you get a large one. Once all the hay in the middle is eaten you can keep topping it up with fresh hay. Remember to turn it every few days so that the bottom is at the top and vice versa. They do tend to get a bit yucky with wee after a while so you may need to cut off the bottom of it.

:agr:

In terms of critical care, I do not keep it in stock due to use by dates. In an emergency I use mushed pellets and then if the episode of syringe feeding looks like it’ll go on for longer than a few days/a week then I will get critical care/emeraid in due to its higher fibre content
