I didn't find a sticky on what to get so hope this thread isn't repetitive!

I, as most of you know, am looking to rescue but we aren't having much luck!

So we have decided in the meantime to get everything together anyway in preparation for our piggies!

What do I need?

we are converting half of the shed into a home for the summer with either a run coming off it, and an indoor hutch for the winter! I was going to get these off Zooplus! Can anyone recommend any other sites to look on?

Also what food is best? and what accessories? There are quite a few on Zooplus

Hi
Theres a food shopping list in the food section. Dried food will depend on what the gps you adopt are eating at the time as a sudden change can be bad for there guts. Zooplus is a really good website maybe try ebay it may be slightly cheaper. Fresh veg best option is to look at the list as it tells you how much and how often! You will need some sort of bedding i use wood shavings lots of people use fleece vet bed. Food bowls water bottles houses or hidy holes. Hay is a daily requirement i think its supposed to make up 80% of there diet. Good luck with finding some lovely piggies

Is woodshavings the ok one? Its sawdust I am meant to avoid isn't it...

I don't use either indoors, it's way too messy.. or is it just me that's messy?
Where abouts are you sailaice? xx

You shouldn't really use wood shaving or saw dust. It's not good for guinea pigs skin, feet or lungs. Your best sticking with hay.

Also make sure you get a big enough indoor cage. We're now making our own C and C cages which are cheaper that the bought ones, but a lot bigger and suitable for piggies. We're encouraging all our indoor adopters to use these as the piggies love them. Good luck!
