Getting more piggies

Hi,
Hope this is the right place to post this.
We adopted George and Arthur last year from a local rescue.
We are considering adopting another 2, they will of course have their own setup but will be in the same room.
Just have a few of questions.
Could this upset them if they can smell other piggies?
Would it be better to get boars, sows or would it not matter what sex?
Would they need a certain amount of space between both setups?

It would be better to get boars as sows and boars should be kept in different rooms. Being near a boar can bring a sow into heat, and a boar which smells a sow in heat can be relentless and surprisingly athletic in his quest to get to her. Having four boys in different cages but the same room is perfectly fine. I don’t believe there is a certain amount of space you should leave between them, but I could be wrong!

You would be far safer to have a second pair of boars.
It’s not just being in heat, simply the smell of girls in the same room could cause George and Arthur to fight with each other over the girls (even though they can’t get to them) and it could ultimately break their bond.

We thought that might be the case but wanted to be sure. We wouldn't want to do anything that would upset the boys so will definitely be looking for another to boars. Thanks again
