Okay, so as some of you will know, I had to rehome a few of my boys who went to a lovely family, so I've kept my 1 boy, Damon.

I'm thinking of possibly getting him a new friend, so I feel mean leaving him alone.
I've thought of getting neutered and getting a girl to go with him, but I'm not sure. My vet charges £44 for a boy.

Would it be best to pair him with a boy?
I got him in November, and he was 8 weeks, which makes him 9 months?

I'd just like some advice really on what would be best?
Thanks :)

If he were mine i'd be cautious about pairing him with a boy even if he chose the baby himself. Out of my 3 boys who chose their own baby only 1 pair are still together 2 years on.

There is a risk with any op but i've had 2 boars neutered & neither had post-op complications.

There is always the option of adopting a spayed sow but again no guarantees they will accept one another.

Thanks Niki

I know what you mean, I'm also cautious about trying to pair him after the trouble I had last time :/
I just don't know what the best thing for me to do would be?

my original 2 boys fell out, but i bonded them with new boys and never had any problems, I have also had 6 bonded pairs without issues.

Personally i would get him a friend. You run the risk with either boar or sow of a fall out, I dont know the circumstances about you rehoming others or if he has ever been bonded with another piggie, but I would try with either a spayed sow or baby boar .. good luck x

How bout you contact a rescue and do boar dating? Or ask them who's available :)
I understand you want a friend for Damon :)
Good luck xxxxxxxxxxx

My reasoning behind having to rehome my other piggies, was that one day they were all getting together brilliantly and the next all hell broke loose. I wasn't as up on information a few months ago as I am now and I've learnt BIG STYLE from my mistakes.
I had to rehome because my others were badly bullying 1 piggy (which is Damon who I decided to keep) and he was getting hurt, lots of scratches, big marks, blood etc.
I made the horrid decision that I had to rehome as I just hadn't the space for 2/3/4 more cage :( it was a tough time and I'm just starting to feel better about it although I miss them all so much :0

Yes, I would want to rescue I think, I don't think anyone in my area does boar dating, I only really have Freshfrield Rescue, which mainly has pairs or groups, or the RSPCA x
