Junior Guinea Pig
My darling BF told me today that the purchasing manager at his work has been asking about our guinea pigs. Apparently she is obsessed with them and goes into PAH quite a lot to just look at them. I'm not sure if she's actually serious about getting them but I was v. proud of my bf when he told her that she's actually better off getting some guineas at a rescue.
She had replied that she only thought rescues were for cats and dogs and seemed a bit disappointed that the guinea pigs in rescues were older. He explained to her all about the perils of breeding, pet stores seeing animals as merchandise, and just how many guinea pigs are in rescues at the moment. He also told her that ours had ringworm one week from taking them home and that our vet mentioned he saw a lot of pet store animals with these kinds of problems early on.
Even if it hasn't sunk in with her, I'm glad that he knew all this stuff and he thought to mention it to her. He doesn't look at the forum, he just gets bits and pieces here and there from what I mention now and again. I must go on about it more than I think!
