Getting Piggie To Eat Independently Again

Fingers very firmly crossed for him! I sincerely hope that he can pull through and I know that you and Simon will do your utmost to give him a fighting chance.

Fingers crossed here too, at least you know what you are up against now.

Even if other vets aren't happy about doing conscious dentals, why oh why can't they at least use the buccal pad separators so they can examine a piggies mouth without needing GA. This little guy wouldn't have survived a GA but he had been seen by other vets who couldn't find anything wrong with him. Checking the mouth with a scope just isn't good enough! Piggies have such fleshy cheeks that you can't get a good look at the mouth without the right equipment.

It really upsets me that this little guy has been left in pain, despite his owners trying desperately to get him the help that he needed.

Well I didn't think I would be posting this this evening, but Cookie is already eating a little. Only three tiny pieces of cucumber, but that's good enough for me. I'm feeling much more positive about this little guy as he is also taking syringe food so much better too. Since returning from the vets I haven't done anything else but syringe feed him little and often and it looks like it is paying off now. Seeing a dental piggy make those first steps towards normal eating makes all the hard work so worthwhile.

Thank you for all your help Debbie! Without this he would be in his forever sleep by now! I am glad there was a reason for him to be like this!

His friend crumble pig noticed something is not right and also keeps his paws crossed. He has gone over 850g now - double of cookies weight.

2 vets have looked at his teeth without noticing anythingn abnormal. I am sorry but that's not right. We have wasted precious time (never mind money) on this.

I'm glad you found what was wrong with cookie, i hope he continues to make a good recovery and his teeth get better! xx
