Does anyone else get this? When I sneeze or make a sudden noise, there's always a grumpy little "brrrp!" from one of the boxes! Last night they were all having naps and they sounded very groggy brrps when there was a noise. Once I spooked Tico and she ran back to her box so fast she crashed into the back of it. I laughed, and she told me off for daring to laugh at her!

Yes, any loud bangs sets off a little brr or rumble from Hector. I have also had teeth grinding when I don’t get their veggies in fast enough from my old rainbow piggie Bill. He was so impatient that once he saw the veggie he would grind his teeth unless I gave him a piece through the bars first

Tico chatters her teeth at veggie time, and she's now taught Ogg to do it too.

Betty and Winnie (esp betty) have a very long list of noises they’ll tell you off for. Coughing, any kind of exhalation of breath, the blinds going down, the blinds going up, the doorbell, phones ringing on the tv, the nugget box being closed (strangely they’re fine with the sound of it being opened 😂). And sneezing- I swear one day my eyeballs will fall out of my face from trying to sneeze quietly to keep them happy 😂EDB5D518-64AC-4D02-8280-4B5B84714D7D.webp

Oh yes. I consider my lot to be a right bunch of old grumps. Mobile phone alerts, the doorbell, the landline ringing, dropping anything on the floor, you name it - anything that makes a noise and isn’t the fridge door opening results in a ticking off from one or all of them. Honestly. You’d think it was their house and we were just allowed to live in it!

We get told off a lot too, mostly if any phone rings…..landline/mobile or on the television.
Sneezing is allowed, even my OH who has a loud sneeze, coughing however is not allowed!
Late pellets, or veggies….. full on protests, very loud teeth chattering.
I often find myself saying to our piggies, “Are you cross, would you like to tell me all about it?” Then I usually add “I am sorry you feel like that!” 🤣

Duke is my most vocal piggie for telling me off. feed the trio first, teeth chattering and pushing the cage door open with a foot, try pick him up when he doesn’t want to, get kicked many times by a back foot.

Yugi also enjoys kicking me. She was my first kicker until I got Duke, now I get it from two of five.

When it is nail cutting/fluff trimming time I carefully round up the guinea pigs and take them out one at a time for trims.

The 3 left behind huddle in a group and tooth chatter very loudly to show their displeasure.

Rosie is the luckiest as she is smooth coated so only nails for her. Her sister, Cherry Blossom doesnt have too much hair and rarely needs a trim.

Poor old Mistletoe (white and cream) has flowing locks as does my neutered boar Cufflinks.

We get told off all the time too. We are too slow with food, not allowed to receive or make phone calls, grumbled at if we drop anything, walk too near a cage, they grumble at the door knocker, if someone next door drops something or slams a door. Just about any noise one or other if not all of them grumble. I'd like to say we walk on egg shells round the piggies but we don't we just tell them to be quiet, "whose house is this anyway". Apparently it's theirs, we are tollerated because they can't open the fridge :))

My past piggy, Bunny, didn't like the sound of jingling keys! She would always "growl" whenever she heard it. Always made me laugh. 🤣

My Rocky boy when he was still alive would "growl" at me whenever I laugh too loud or too much during the time whenever I syringe fed him. He also hated every time hubby would clear his throat or cough and such. 🤣🤣 But he was the only piggy I had that would hiss at me whenever I would pick him up to syringe feed him. Surprised me the first time he did that! But he was completely fine when he was already on my lap and loved my constant kisses.

Turns out Luna hates the sound of waterfalls. There was one on the TV, I've never seen her move as fast as she bolted into a cozy! They HATE the sound of coughing and act as if this noise is an irreparable betrayal of trust. The sound of a squeaky door handle is also not liked. They are the only thing allowed to squeak in the house clearly.

I don't think mine like the sound of running water either since we had a leak in our house and water was dripping in to the Piggy Palace! Luckily OH was still up and heard the commotion otherwise they might have been in a paddling pool come morning.

Mine hated sneezing but worst of all for them was the rattle of keys, they used to growl at me angrily whenever they heard keys! I wonder if it's because they knew that sound meant I was leaving the house which equates to no treats for an hour or two!
