I am due to rehome 2 sows, well i get them indoorsready for pick up the next day and the cows start fighting, and i don't mean nip nip i mean " give me your throat i wanna tear it out :o"

sow i replace with another sow and it starts all over again,so i routate with one sow who is dominate with the other who was picked on, and they till fought,

I mean these sows have lived happily for 6 months plus, other than Lilly who has lived with them for 2 weeks with no probs, what would you suggest or i am going to have to let these people down

Oh I dont know hun, have you tried seperating them for 1/2 hour or so and then try them? :-\

no they live in a free range herd in the shed and are as happy as you can imagin, this was a much smaller cage a nero2 just to hold them over night, it had veg hay food water, it was only over night, i thought this would not be a prob,

so do you think it was the cage? and not the sowsnot getting on.

should i still let them go?

I agree with Graham, they haven't necessarily got on, probably 'tolerated' each other ::) I have a friend that takes my difficult to rehome pigs and she has the same sort of set up- try to bond them in pairs :) Good luck :)

I would try them in a bigger cage with a place to hide each. If they've been free range in a large group it's a bit like asking two people who barely know one another to live together 24/7 in a bathroom. I would treat them as though they hadn't met before. Introduce them on neutral ground like the couch or floor and build up the amount of time they spend together. If all else fails, try bathing them together.

have let the pair of them go and explained to the owner that they need to keep an eye on them, they did settle down but, i think more of a dominate issue was going on, but they are nice people and have told them the moment they are not happy to call me, but their cage they have is hugh.

so fingers crossed it will all be ok.
