Three very rude, persistent and irascible pigs that have failed to find a suitable partner as part of the Boar Dating Service will be neutered in the coming weeks to give them the chance of finding a forever home.

As I rarely neuter any pigs in the rescue I am making sure these boys are given the best care possible. The top exotics vet in South Wales, Lance Jepson and his VN Claire are carrying out the ops, with Jack being first in the queue.

He was operated on today and is home making a good recovery, bright , happy and very lively. Lot of poo, pee and eating everything in sight.

This pic just sums up how cheeky Jack is, he's got a fabulous personality and will be such a fun pet for the right family and the right wifeypig.

Oh Jack is stunning x) x) x) Wishing him a safe recovery and all the best for Cheese and Mr Scruff when their time comes. I've heard lots of great things about Lance Jepson and it sounds like they are in the safest possible hands with him.

What a handsome, cheeky looking fella! Hope he finds his ideal wifepig as soon as he's passed his all-clear date!

Mr Scruff and Cheese have also been done now - all 3 boys are recovering very well. Their would sites are healing very well.

They are bedded on puppy pads with a folded towel as a bed under a stool. The stool, food and water drip bowl are wiped down daily with F10 cleansing wipes, the towels and puppy pads changed daily. A poop scoop 2/3 times a day. Mr Scruff looked to have a bit of a dirty wound site today from sitting on some poops (6 days post op) and had a wash with dilute hibiscrub.

I chose to give all three metacam and baytril for 5 days post op as a precautionary measure.

The boys will be available in mid January for adoption and whom ever gets to take one of them home is going to be so glad that they did, each has a huge pigsonality, full of fun and chat.

I love abys - such a pity that I already have more than plenty husboars!
 
Two more boys were added to the neutering list as the vet had space for another pair of boys to be done before the Christmas break. As these will be the last I'm having done until late next year I took advantage of the op slots.

Chingford, approx 12 months old. Very butch, very dominant and very oily pig. I'm hoping the diminished testosterone will mean and end to his abundant grease gland production.

Eugene, a darling little man, so nervous at meeting other males that he gets too stressed out. He's been neutered so I can introduce him to a little girl that will appreciate such a sweet natured boy.

All the pigs are recovering well from their ops. Mr Scruff has had a reaction to the suture material so some samples have been sent off to the lab to see what's going on. I'll update again once there is news on the results.


As the representative for the neutered boys here at the rescue it is Jack's job to deal with any post, etc. This morning he had a big job on his paws dealing with a delivery at the rescue.

Time to trash this party! It took Jack all of 5 seconds to cause havoc - trying to get this pig to stay still long enough for a picture is a nightmare. He's on fast forward every single moment of the day.
