Hello I have had my Ginger Piggy out this morning and have notice the hole where her tail should be is dry, grey, and cracked. The fur around it seems to be shorter than normal.

I have bathed her in Gorgeous Guinea's Posh and Go, as she has been looking dull in her coat for a couple of days and thought it might help.

She is a 2 1/2 year old female living with Jack a 1 year old neutered male (a rescue who we have had for 23 days) and Rosie a 14 week old girl (who has been with her for about 7 weeks).

I have compared her to the young female and it doesn't look right, but I have no idea what it is.

Any ideas?

It could be the grease gland. Usually males have this problem where they excrete a lot of grease and it looks like a dark sticky patch and can affect the way the coat looks but sows can have this problem too.

I used to put vaseline on this patch for a couple of days to soften it and then try and reomve the sticky patch with warm water and cotton wool. I also clipped the fur around the area so it would get stuck in it.
