Ginger has been dealing with an abscess on the left side of her face for the past couple of weeks, after she broke one of her front molars. I was draining into her mouth until her broken tooth began to grow back, and it was sealed off. I've been treating it with Baytril as well as Metronidazole.

Last night she was on my lap and I notice there was something crusty on her face, and I put a little bit of pressure on the abscess and white gunk started coming out. I think this is a good thing, it was draining and relieving pressure in her face. Is there anything else I should do?

Speak to your vet first thing in the morning. You may need to keep the abscess open to make sure that everything comes out. Your vet has also to decide whether to you need to flush the abscess or not.

Use saline solution and cotton pad to clean any pus off. You can make saline yourself by mixing one teaspoon into half a pint / 250 ml of boiled, cooled water.
