Glitter is vomiting

Well Simon has given her a thorough check over and can find nothing specifically wrong with her, other than she is very thin and has lost a lot of weight recently. He feels sure, from the description I gave him, that the fluid that was coming from her mouth was saliva and not stomach contents, but why she was producing large amounts of saliva and not swallowing it remains a mystery. She is starting to eat more and more, so he has suggested I monitor her over the next few days, and continue to check her weight. He's said to take her back if she doesn't start to show a marked improvement.

Her and Sheila have recently joined Rory, Hannah, Tufty and Twinkle so we are wondering if she hasn't been getting her fair share of the food. She hasn't been in tip top health for a while now. She had a URI a few months ago and never really regained the weight she lost then. For now I am just going to keep her with one little friend and see how she gets on.

Glad to hear that she got on ok at the vets.

Perhaps she just needs more time to improve after her URI ... give her a hug from me and I hope she continues to eat little but often and is back to full health soon xx

All the best to Glitter. Hopefully your strategy will work!

Fingers crossed from me!

Am glad he didn't feel any lumps knowing how good he is i'd be reassured but still concerned as to why it happened in the first place. Hope she goes on ok Debbie, am thinking about you xx

Hoping she'll improve each day, so that you can notice a real difference.
Hugs to you, Debbie, as I know how worried you are.

Oh darling i'm so sorry about Glitter, poor little one she's had such a rough period lately 8...
All our love and WHEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEKS and heaps of healing ones too from us all xx>>>xx>>>xx>>>xx>>>xx>>>

What a scary experience, I really feel for you and Glitter. I hope she regains her weight and condition soon.

I'm thinking I may have got to the bottom of all this. When we got home from seeing Simon last night I popped her and Hannah back into the cage. I gave them some food and Glitter grabbed a piece. I went upstairs leaving both her and Hannah munching away. I went back downstairs later to give them more and Hannah was cuddling Glitter in the corner of the cage. I put some more food in and again they both moved forward to get it, I then noticed Hannah launch a quite vicious attack on Glitter. Not exactly physically hurting her but really snapping at her, and pushing her back into the corner. I immediately put Hannah back with their other cage mates and just kept Glitter on her own. Since then she hasn't stopped munching and drinking. She's like a different piggy. I am now thinking that she has never really regained her full strength since being so poorly with the URI about six weeks ago and that she has been bullied and denied food by the others. There are some very strong characters in that group!

I've always said I have a much bigger problem with females than ever I do with the males. If boys are not getting on it's so obvious, but girls tend to be really sneaky, and it's all so underhand.

I will make sure Glitter has her cage next to Pops and Skye so she can see them, but I am keeping her on her own for now until she has regained her weight and strength. I will then look at where she is going to best fit in with others. I am thinking maybe with Crater Head and co, as they are such a lovely, kind group.

Glad you got to the bottom of it Debbie. I know what you mean I've had more trouble with my sows than boars. Especially the small sows I think they feel threatened by the bigger ones!

Hope Glitter improves now. :)

I'm so glad you have figured out what was up. I agree with you and Louise, my girls have also been nothing but trouble! Meghan won't share her man with anyone, and Tuppy was...well, Tuppy. She was a total cowbag to the other girls!

I'm so glad that Glitter is now on a firm road to recovery! What a pity that she was so badly bullied.

Hopefully, she works out in the other group; she's such a lovely lady. I keep my fingers crossed for her!

I am keeping everything crossed for Glitter.
Perhaps you have solved the mystery ... she needs a little time on her own with all her own food to eat when she wants to. Peace and quiet but in sight of her friends.

Bless her!

She's like a different piggy already. She's gained about 50g in weight since this time yesterday too. Every time I look at her she is munching away.

I really thought things were looking pretty bleak a couple of nights ago, but now it's all much more positive.

She's a sweet little mite. Very quiet and not at all pushy, so I guess that coupled with being a little under the weather didn't help at all.

Great news! :):)
