I was just browsing the forum and I noticed another Piggie parent was growing Timothy grass for the piggies...

Where would I be able to get the seeds because I think my girls would love some grass to munch on especially as it's getting to cold and damp to let them in the garden.

A step by step guide would be useful as well :D

And where can I buy hay and which is the best sort! Paying out a fortune for a 3KG bag and the girls get through it like mad!

Lucky says hi as well. She's snuggling in the new fleece blanket I purchased and is looking at me oddly. Nothing new there :)

jesss,

Quite a few people on here use Hay for Pets. It is approximately £16 for 9.5kg but this includes delivery. They do a number of different types - my guinea pigs love them all.

Their customer service is fantastic. If you do decide to give them a try you need to add a note that the hay is for guinea pigs rather than rabbits and they will send finer stuff.

Hope this helps.....

'hay for pets' hay is great - I didn't know about having to specify for guinea pigs - the stuff I got was still lovely.

I grew trays of normal grass for my 2, they love it, they just had a tray while I was cleaning them out, takes all of 10minutes to finish the lot!

I have tried many times to grow grass indoors. In my opinion, unless you are some kind of expert (I'm not!) the only kinds of grass you can grow indoors are cereal grasses (rye, wheat, barley - the sort you can buy as cat grass). I've tried growing timothy grass indoors, and it didn't work.

Just purchased from Hay for Pets :) buying in bulk is always the best idea. Ta for your advice.
