I think the parents are very irresponsible, they can't possible care for 97 animals and along with vet fees the animals won't be getting the care they need.

I agree with you spitcher, although nice to see a caring young man that isn't a knife wielding thug he would be better reducing his numbers and giving 100% to those he keeps.

Just think about other rescues then - How many do they take on ? Yes the difference is his age but i dont think that really matters to be honest - he goes school ::) i go college and ive had pets since i was born and my mum let me

Hes doing a great job and i wish i was him :( ;D

Rescues have a cut off point as do fosterers. I do think his heart is in the right place but the numbers he has are too much to cope with. Any sensible person can see that.

You have 28 Guinea pigs this guy has 97 different animals, I can't see how he can do it personally.

yeah i have 28 guinea pigs but i am going to have more as there no problem and i know people that have more than 100 different animals - i dont think it matters about the age

Without doubt I would say his heart's in the right place but how can anybody provide sufficient care for this number of animals. I don't think he should be criticised for what he's doing but he does need some guidance. I don't doubt he does the very best he can for all the animals but there is only so much one person can do, regardless of their age!

100 different animals, what is it Noah's Ark? ;D I don't think it matters about his age either, I've not mentioned his age all my concern is about the amount he has.

If he does get help and unlimited funds from his parents then great O0

Sorry to butt in but am I the only one who thinks there are quite a few judgemental opinions being aired here? It seems to me he has a lot on his hands and appears to be coping OK. I agree the hutches seemed a little on the small side and he may be in need of some guidance in certain areas.

it's just my opinion BlackJack there aren't enough hours in the day to care for so many animals on your todd. I'm not judging him just giving an opinion on a forum, I thought that is what message boards were for? ?

THanks Clare i sort of know what you mean now O0 O0 lol being from OZ :D :D

It would be nice to see a follow up programme on this lad and just see if he's coping ok and getting all the help he needs, as i said earlier i congratulated him but did have concerns in a couple of areas........... def a followup needed.... and lets hope somebody helps him and educates him as well :) :) :) :)

HI

I do think that the lad is doing a good job, but are the animals vaccinated.
For instance at the moment I have to get my Rabbits vaccinated on a yearly basis for VHD and Myxomatosis has been every 6 months, due to a few out breaks.
Can you imagine what would happen if any of the Rabbits got the above diseases.
If he lives on a farm Myxomatosis is spread through wild rabbits and your advised to get your pet ones done if you live near wild life.
Perhaps they are all vaccinated, but would be quite expensive.
Also the cats and dogs also would need vaccinations.

Jaye

Yep Jaye's right. I have both my rabbits vaccinated every year/6months, also they have both been spayed to prevent babies, also so they can live together. That alone cost god knows how much - I don't want to think about it :o
The dogs have vaccs every year, plus the youngest was just spayed, think it was in the region of £300 :o
The cat was a rescue and has had problems since we got her, so she has cost tons!
Guinea pigs in comparison are cheap animals, but whenever you do anything on a large scale it costs money. If I was sure this boy was getting all the animals spayed, vaccinated etc I wouldn't mind - but I wonder if he is?

part of me thinks well done but the other part (the biggest) thinks it a bit irresponsible for a 15yr old to have so many animals. should school and getting got grades not matter most? yes have pets and take responsibilty for them but come on 97 pets its just stupid.

I'm 14 and I can't ONLY JUST handle 11 pigs and 1 rabbit. :o god knows how he does it :o :o :o
