Going on holiday what to do with guinea pigs?

Hi. I'm going on holiday soon and I usually ask my friend to look after my guinea pigs, however it feels difficult to ask her now as I know a lot more about guinea pig care that I used to. I feel as if it's a bit too much to ask her to take care of them now. So I was thinking of taking my guinea pigs to a guinea pig boarding place but this worries me as my guinea pigs have never been moved out of their cage and into a new one because my friend usually comes to my house to take care of them. I'm also going away for two weeks so another worry that I have is that what if my guinea pigs think that they have a new owner and I have abandoned them? Any tips on what to do or what anyone else usually does would be very appreciated, Thanks :)
 
Hi, are they males or females? They should be absolutely fine going to a broader if you don’t feel comfortable asking your friend but they may show more dominant behaviour than normal once they are in the cage at the boarders especially if they’re males.

My pigs are going to my friends house for 3 weeks this summer whilst I go on holiday. They have been going there for the past few years and have always been absolutely fine going in to a different cage. They’re a bit miffed with me for a day or two when they come home but they soon get over it.

I suggest though that if they have never been before, you ask if you can go and look around at the boarders in advance so you know what to expect and that you are happy with the set up etc so you don’t get any nasty surprises on the day of drop off

They should be fine. What you can do it’s take things that are familiar to them. Something like a tunnel, hide etc.

Our boy, piggies go boarding for holidays. I always take a bit if old fleece with us so it smells familiar, and the boarding lady says they settle in super quick, treating holidays as a second home!
The boys are a bit huffy, and like to tell us off first day home, then they settle straight back into our routine with no problems.

The longest we were ever away from our piggies was a month.
My daughter fretted a lot and was sure they would have forgotten us by the time we got home, but honestly after a quiet 48 hours they were back to their usual wheeky, demanding selves.
Nothing had changed and they had most certainly not forgotten us.
