I'm sure I'm not alone when I'm feeling really apprehensive about going away on holiday and leaving my babies. A friend will be in everyday to feed and spot clean but thats it, I dont have family near by to help. I'm really worred how they will be without their cuddles. Will they be different when I get back ?

I left my boys Murray and Andy( gone over rainbow bridge now) last year for a week with my son, he looked after them well but I left a list on what to feed and when, that could be an idea if you don't feel too cheeky asking. They were fine but a bit off with me when I got back, didn't want to be bothered at all. Soon won them over with all their special things x

They'll be fine, try not to stress, as @Shirley said above a list is a great idea - gives you piece of mind that they are being looked after well. As long as they are fed, watered and cleaned all will be well. You can make up for it with extra long piggy cuddles when home :)

I'm sure they'll forgive you.

... but I'm afraid I know exactly how you feel. The first time we went away, a very good friend came in daily and fed and watered my guinea pigs but I was still fretting - Poor girl was getting daily texts from me. I have now found a boarding place where I am happy to take them. She is a very good friend - I wasn't sure what she'd think when I told her but she said - "they're your guinea pigs and you need to do what you are happiest doing". She still looks after our house when we are away - and feeds the fish.

I miss my piggies terribly when I'm away but they always seem pleased to see me and having them to come back to banishes the end of holiday blues.

I went away for 4 nights over easter, my mum fed them but didnt get them out, they were fine tho. I was sad like you, i even posted about it on here!

Easier said than done not to worry... I'm going away in June and theyre going into boarding. I'm worried but we must remind ourselves they will be fine xx

It is difficult - I went away just before xmas and I got very upset (I was ill as well so probably didn't help!). My dad is happy to feed, water, change hay and spot clean but I can't expect him to get them out for cuddles or do full cage cleans as my cage is so large it's a big job to clean and a bit of nightmare to get them out if they're in the wrong place! I'm sure they'll cope for a week with the bare minimum and you'll soon win them round with the extra care you provide them :)

Funny I'm leaving my cantankerous for nine nights. So I have had a plan in action for a month. At the bottom of the garden I am making a large guinea safe and cat protections eco home. I have put lots of fun hides around the area and their cage just leads on to it. So in the morning I open the bottom door of the outdoor large cage and the just go out and play popcorn and have guinea fun.

So this is where the mind comes in. My sweet little next door neighbour is going to mind them. Bearing in mind she already adores them. All she has to do in the mornings let then into their little guinea park and refill hay and nuggets and give some daily veg treats. Then in the evening I ave trained the boys to run into their hutch when I clap twice. Perfect excercise and a food bringer.best of it is she wants to bring them in for cuddles as well! Perfect. I just hope I finish the guinea grove retreat in time before I leave on this Thursday. Lol

I'm planning a holiday for later this year and brambles off to my mums. My mum will follow all my strict rules and have her out for cuddles and floor time but I'm still worried...

My ladies go to my friends when I go away, she used to own my first two ladies but could no longer keep them so she adores having them around as she misses the piggies :)
