I was just swaping over the gps into the run and Suzy is limping quite bad, it seems to be her front leg and louis has a huge lump inside his ear which I am hoping it's just an absess. I have booked them into the vets @ 5 o clock today. I started crying, cos i have just spent over £250 on one of our dogs, who hurt her leg, she is insured, but have to wait for the claim to come through and now the 2 gps, who aren't insured, I am going to be very skint until the end of the month. Healing vibes please for louis and suzy xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

sending lots of good vibes for Louis & Suzy,i hope all is ok,make sure you stay calm, dont get worked up yet as it may not be to bad, positive thoughts dear xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

Big hug!

These things always happen at the most inconvenient of times! I'm keeping my fingers crossed that it won't be anything serious or seriouly expensive!

You go good for a while, and then it all happens at once and empties your bank account in a matter of days/weeks!

Hope the vet can sort Suzy and Louis out tonight, good luck. :)

Good luck! I had a month where we had to take 4 guineas to the vet multiple times and it was expensive. Hope you have a good few months if not years of nothing else.

let us know how you get on.

Drainage of abscess and possibly an antibiotic should not be expensive (by veterinary standards). An abscess is easily drained, I hope the vet does not suggest the need for a general anaesthetic.

wishing you all the best at the vets, thinking of your piggies, sending you healing vibes for all your animals

Oh dear, sending Postive wheeeeks from Abby & Molly for your piggies vet visit

GOOD LUCK!

Hope things will turn out right in the end for you xx

thank everyone. Unfortunatley Louis has to have an operation on Thursday to remove the lump, they dont think it's an absess, so he needs it cut off as it's right by the ear canal and if its grows more, he would end up with serious ear problems - that is going to cost me £200, Susy leg is fine, though they thought they felt a break, so did an xray there and then, but the results were fine, but that visit cost me £121. I just feel really low at the moment. Vets are so expensive! All money will have to be paid by the old credit card so I am going to have to get on ebay and sell some stuff! Susy is on metacam for her hurt leg x

Ouch! Both physically for the piggies, and financially for your poor purse! I'm sorry it wasn't better news, although I'm relieved that Susy is ok and I am pleased they investigated properly straight away. Good luck for Louis on Thursday - I'd be interested to know what the lump is, if not an abscess, be interesting to see if the vet elaborates on the lump after it is removed.

Selling old stuff on eBay is usually good for raising some money, I hope it balances things out for you a little more.

thanks, I am glad suzy is ok though, just poor Louis, he cost me £300 last year on another operation he had to have, but I wouldn't not pay it cos I love all my animals, it's just expensive! The vet said it would cost £80 to send the lump off to be analysised, but I'll wait until Thursday after the op, which will hopefully go ok for Louis.

ooh i bet that stung! but has reminded me to put some money in my savings account

best of luck for thursday

can i just check with this metacam, as i have never used it before = the stuff they gave me was metacam for cats, is that the metacam people usually are given? they said they only had metacam for cats and dogs, so i just wanted to check, thanks

Yes, the one for cats is OK; I have it as well!

Sorry about the bad news for the lump; but I'm glad that Susy's leg was not broken!

Aw, best of luck to you with your poorly piggies. I've had an expensive couple months as well with Celyn's eye op and a minor op to clear the infection after and Gethin being diagnosed with an enlarged heart, and going to the Rainbow Bridge week ago Monday (RIP little ginger man.) This is the first time in 6 pigs that I've had to spend much for vet bills, so I think I've just been unlucky. Take good care, all of you!

That is a ridiculous amount to charge. I would like to know, in advance, what the lump could possibly be. I feel somewhat uneasy about the way you, as well as the pig, are being treated. I would look for another opinion. It is a pity that you are so far away from the CCT. For £200 you could travel to the CCT and, more than likely have the lump diagnosed and removed and have some money left over.
Is the it so life threatening that it must be removed this week?

Hi, just to let you know that Suzy is much better since having that metacam and Louis had his operation today and is now home. The bill was £141 in the end, but unfortunatley I had to borrow the money from the other half. Louis seems ok, just a bit drowsy still, though he has had a slice of cucumber. The lump was a cyst. Got to go food shopping for the animals / us humans tomorrow for the week ahead, then I am official skint until the end of next week :( but i am glad louis got through the operation ok, he's my little darling xxxxxxxxxxxxxx he is the light coloured piggy on my photo thing

Good to hear he is doing well. Let us know how he's doing in the morning, hopefully he'll be pretty much back to normal by then.

At least the bill was £60 less than quoted, although it is still very high for such a procedure. I hope your bank balance recovers very soon too!

Sending my best recovery wishes to your special boy!

I forgot to add that Louis is going back to the vets for a check up after the operation in the morning. I did actually say fine but how much is that going to cost me! but she said nothing, cos its a op check up. He still seems quite quiet and his eyes seems watery x

It is an unusual place for a sebaceous cyst, I think I have only seen one.

oh poor thing, hope he gets better soon-your piggies are lucky to have a special owner that gets them sorted when they are poorly! hope you win a bit on the euromillions maybe? I'm having a go too! gemx
