princessguinea

well, I'm still mourning over my princess, but jose and debbie (my sister) took me to a pet shop for a new piggy anyway.
she is about 5 months and is a abbysian (did i spell that right? lol). shes a very light golden brown and white, hence the name goldie. shes not princess but shes growing on me. she is very nervous still and jumps about anything but hopefully that will be over soon.
the only thing is that she was with a male so theres that chance of pregnancy. how do you know and how long does it take?

So glad you've got a guinea you love. No idea about the pregnancy thing, but the others will be able to help on that. looking forward to hearing more about Goldie. ;D

Goldie sounds adorable.
I think pregnancy takes 72 days - I could be wrong though. I don't know how you would tell though apart from bulgy out sides

Aww, I like the name. Yes Deb, pregnancy can be up to 72 days, but sometimes a little earlier and also telling by the bulging sides.

well from what i can tell, she has no bulging sides. shes actually quite small. i doubt she is but you never know! :o

Jo, the jumping probably wont stop. She's happy its popcorning. ;D

Glad you got another.

WELCOME GOLDIE!

Thanks, everyone. yea i know shes popcorning, i meant any little noise sends her off in a race in her cage! lol! ;D
shes very cute. she reminds me of a little raggidly fluffy toy! her eyes look like 2 black buttons! shes like a little doll! i'll take pic as soon as i can.

thanks! ;)
i will be however, calling to complain about the conditions of the animals in the shop. some had no food in the bowls or water! no hay either!
it really upset me. i went thru a bunch of piggies before i got to goldie coz most of them looked sick. one looked like he had an ear fungus. others had crust in the eyes and stuff like that. and they were really young! the workers didnt even know the sex of them! i had to look at each one to see for myself! >:( i mean these people should know the basics! I'm not a specialist but geez, i can tell a boy from a girl!
I'm glad i rescued goldie before she got something. I'm tsking her to the vet anyway for a checkup. xx

really? i thought it was just over here! i dont understand whats so hard to put food and water in bowls!?

you know, originally i got another piggy, a boy. he had an ear thing going on but i was gonna treat him. i took him back coz he was sick! i couldnt deal with another death from a respitory diesease so i got goldie. these people just dont care! i hope the other piggy is okay. i felt bad but i cant go again with that.

Our pet shops here can be really awful but there is one company pampurredpets that are FANTASTIC! they have lovely cages and it two to a cage with a big pigloo water food hay and even VEG! and the staff and amazing they know alot as they are trained in animal management once they start there i went for a job but got turned down as i didnt have enough experience with their range of animals for example ive never had a pet bird or rat so i wouldnt have been able to help them with that the piggies there are well looked after and they give you a call about a week after to make sure everything a ok! i get my piggies from pets at home becasue i cant stand to think of them in the conditions they live in Rudi was alone and looked so sad, Zubin was hiding from a very large rabbit, Griffin was really sleepy but Eddie was fine he was a little shy but he was ok otherwise. Cant wait for pics of Goldie

that shop sounds really great. i havent been back to the stores that i complained about. i hope my email did something and those poor animals get better service. will post piccies of goldie soon too.
xx
