Hi All,

Just a quick question. Sunshine and Twinkle have their own hay rack I fill it up daily and at one point I was going through 5 large handfuls a day of herbage. Over time this has slowly diminished and they stopped eating the herbage, so I've now got them on Meadow until I can find a suitable replacement.

Any tips for getting them to eat hay again and what would be the best kind for pigs around 5 months old.

Thanks!

Louise

i don't know, as you say maybe try a different type? you can get ones with herbs in and oat hay and stuff, i've never known a piggy go off hay :o? it is a really important part of their diet. i'm sure if they really need it, they'll eat it.

i know it sounds daft but try putting a handful on the floor not in the hay rack, mine hate eating from the hay rack, you never know it might be the problem x

I bought a hay rack thinking is would keep their home tidier, they ate from it for a few days but then completely stopped,so they now have it back on the floor :)

I dont use the hayrack anymore ::) my guinea's eat there bed which is annoying so I'm getting a bowl thing in this shop that you put hay in . They are scared of the hay rack :P I

Yes I would try that or you could get them some different hay and alternate it? Oxbow timothy is a favourite of all guineas and I sometime get oat hay as well. The "burns" oat hay is horrid but the hay experts do their own one and its lovely. Their courier postage is £4.95 but you can get a load of stuff for the same postage price, so I tend to stock up ;)

Thanks guys! :) They are eating some hay but I know they can do better. I'll put some around the hurch and see if that works. The girls don't use their hay rack so I just do that with them. :)
