Dear little Stuart with the pirate patch, died yesterday after a long illness.

He has gone to join his mum Mavis, brothers Walter and Percy, and sister Janis.

They were born in November 2013, Mum Mavis was a 'school piggy' who was found to be pregnant. Her pregnancy was complicated by hind limb paralysis but all the babies were delivered safely, the first babies born at my home.
Unfortunately Walter and Percy developed horrible abscesses after neutering (a vet we no longer use) Percy died soon afterwards. Walter survived but died subsequently from an unrelated illness, and Janis also died at a young age from heart problems. Walter Has Gone To Join His Brother And Sister
Mavis, their mum died last year from recurrent respiratory infections.
Stuart seemed well but last autumn started to lose weight, no cause was found for this at the vet and the conclusion was that he had an underlying cancer. He remained well apart from weight loss and increasing weakness. He enjoyed his life with his beloved Eleanor. On Sunday he had his usual bedtime snack of cucumber and dandelions, but seemed very weak. Next morning I wasn't surprised to find that he had died peacefully during the night.
He was a pig with attitude, he hated being messed about and gave the vets a shock when he dived off the scales during weighing! He complained like mad about claw clipping. But he was such a happy pop corning piggy, especially when he was on the grass. Sadly he never got outside this year but he had plenty of grass hand picked for him.
So good bye sweet boy, you were never destined for a long life with your genetic load, but I think you had a wonderful life with your first wife Sprite and later Eleanor. Go and run free with Sprite and your family. We miss you but are so lucky to have had you in our lives x

I am so sorry - in many ways it is the end of an era when you lose your last direct connection to a special group of piggies. So with Stuart, you lose his family all over again. But you have done your best to give Stuart and his family the best and happiest of lives, even if it wasn't happening for all of them.

RIP Stuart - he was a very striking lad indeed!

So sorry to read this Barbara. No matter how many piggies we have in our care losing one never gets any easier. Farewell little pirate patch Stuart. Popcorn free with your family. Hugs xx
