I sent off for some pretty expensive timothy hay and sort of felt silly, since I live in Texas and Lord knows with all the cows and horses we have enough hay.
It arrived today and it was way different from any hay I've seen, even the timothy hay I bought in a bag at the pet store. Green, leafy, smells great. Worth the money and I don't feel silly any more....

Hi all

Just wondered

What is the defenition of "Timothy" Hay

I know its expensive and good, I use the one from Oxbow at £65 for a 25lb bag

but what is "Timothy Hay" exactly.

Glad you have found a good hay Lucille, a really nice hay makes us owners as happy (or more happy?!) than the piggies themselves!

Have you tried Kleemama's hay? www.kmshayloft.com
Said to be the best you can get over there!

Another Timothy Question

Is all Timothy Hay available in the UK imported fron the states.

I use Oxbow because it is imported and so has to be heat treated which kills all mites and fungal spores, but its expensive.

I can get hay marked as Timothy from P@H will also be heat treated from the states or are they growing it in the EU.

Thanks

Paul & Jeanette

I believe some timothy hay is grown in the uk and therefore is not treated the same way Oxbow is, I could be making that up though!

I use all hays... under the sun I love hay and so do the pigs! :))
