I am currently in a bit of a dilema about my rescue himi sow. Ive tred to hard to bond her into the herd, but it ended in her hiding herself in the corner of the C&C for 4 hours, refusing to move to eat etc. So I had to take her out and seperate her. Some of the other sows picked on her a bit, but she got very nervous. She has a bit of a nervous temperement, but shes getting better. I didnt know if it would be best to rehome her? But i have been searching around the local area for a boyfriend. What do you think of Oatmeal? http://www.guineapigrehome.org.uk/gp/moreinfo.asp?GpigID=7450
I'm really worried about it not working out or worrying her, but i know that boar/sow pairings work so well. They will be living indoors during the winter months, but I'm planning on buying a 5ft hutch for them in the spring. What do you think? It will bring my total to 13?! Am i nuts?

Probably :))

If you already have 12 - what's one more? :))

Does sound like she's not happy with the girls, maybe a husboar would do her good.

I agree, sounds like the herd is too overwhelming for her, maybe the numbers stress her out. I think a companion is needed so maybe she'll feel more at ease in a pair, I think a husboar would be nice for her :)

You can give your himi sow more time to get used to her neighbours and then take it very slowly with intros or you can see whether you can arrange a dating meeting with Oatmeal and see how that goes. He is certainly a gorgeous boy!

It depends on whether you have got the space and and cleaning time for another group; or are you planning to merge them further down the line?

I do have the space and time for another pair. Ive tried a lot of bonding with her, had her living sectioned off for several weeks, then bathed them all, intros on neutral ground etc. I'd love her to bond, but i cant see it happening, and I'm just thinking she might be happier with a boyfriend maybe? Thanks all for your replies.

Do you find she's taken to even one of your sows...?
You could always try taking one out of the herd and seeing wether they bond...? Just a thought...
