Aw, hello Gus:drool:

And may I ask, is Ruby an adopted daughter? :) She sounds so sweet! You must have such a happy family:hug:
Yes, I adopted Ruby as a single mother back in 2005. Ruby was 14 months when I first held her, she was born in China & it is just her & I along with our fuzzy babies that make up our sweet little family! [emoji252][emoji170][emoji252][emoji172][emoji173]️[emoji631][emoji630][emoji634]

That's so cute! I find adoption so fascinating! Especially when you are adopting from somewhere completely different in the world! It sounds like a lovely little family!

I also adore the name Ruby!

Was that a name you were able to give her? Or was that the name she had when you first met her that you kept?(I don't really know how adoption works!:P)

I've been a nanny for 24 years & have spent my life loving children who have never shared my DNA. I knew I could love any child from anywhere who was to become my daughter. People always say what a "good thing" I did to adopt... How I "saved her"; but the truth is, it is she who did the good thing by allowing me the gift of motherhood. It is she who saved me, every time I hear her call me, Mom. I am blessed... And Gus is just the icing on that cake. [emoji252][emoji170][emoji512]

Her given Chinese name was Pei Mu ( meaning very precious peony flower). I named her Ruby and gave her two middle names: Cate & Pei Mu. Keeping her given name honors her heritage and holds true the integrity of her beginnings in life. It was important to me and Ruby is glad I did. She loves her name. :)

Aw, I love that! That is a beautiful name! I think it's nice that you are able to give her a name you choose, but also allow her to keep her given name!

I think it's a lovely thing for you to adopt, but it's also a massive thing for her to accept you too! So I completely understand what you mean there!
