Good news about too-small cage!

Okay so we are no longer getting to new cages but we got 1 new cage instead. Still adds enough space though ! And we are not getting the 7 month to old new pig today cause they did not like each other in the meetup we had before buying. But instead we are getting another boar TOMORROW instead that is the same age and his sibling. So I think it’s better.

Wr also did a photo shoot with Autumn today! Enjoy the pics!

He is so cute

As long as the cage covers 180x60cm (12 square feet), then that is fine for two boars. If it is any smaller than that, then you will need to think again as two boars, particularly teenage boars, need a lot more room. I see the piggies cannot free roam 24/7 due to the cat so having that large cage is essential.

Being siblings and the same age doesn’t make it better - it’s character compatibility which counts. Two full siblings can still fall out and not have compatibility just the same as two unrelated piggies can. Also, being the same age does mean they will both be hormonal and going through their teens (4-14 months of age) at the exact same time which can actually make things trickier. More boar pairs do make it together than not though so hopefully everything will be fine but you will need a plan b to have them live in separate cages if things turn sour when they become teenagers.

Okay, Than for your help. I spent 12 years studying rabbit & parrot care, Not guinea pigs. So thanks for all of your info and help :)

I don’t know why but I read the title as “update & potato shoot” 😂😂

That’s ok - we are all happy to help.
Ive kept rabbits for just over 30 years myself.

CAGE DEMENSIONS

152x107cm On Bottom Floor

90x57cm On Second Floor

92x40cm On Third Floor

@Piggies&buns is this okay?

As ground roaming creatures, guinea pigs need single level cages. Therefore the bottom floor needs to meet size requirements. An upper level is fine but is a bonus space only and is not included in the cage size. Cages which cover three levels are not really appropriate for guinea pigs - theyre more rat or chinchilla type cages.
Any ramps need to be shallow in gradient and have sides on them for safety.

So, the bottom level of your cage converts to and covers 17 square feet which is lovely for two boars.

I just got my 2nd pig. An American guinea pig boar called spring. Exact same age as Autumn.

That's nice.

Do carry out the neutral territory bonding straight away as both piggies are too young to be alone
I hope things work out for them
