Adult Guinea Pig
This last week has been a traumatic week for us all. We went away to Banbury in the caravan for a week hoping to get some rest but things went a little chaotic.
First of some good news, my daughter from my first marriage delivered my second grandchild on 3rd June, Delilah Lily (tom jones jokes have been a plenty) at a whopping 9lb 13 oz (my daughter is 21 by the way, Evelyn Rose was 8lb 12 oz).
Unfortunately as with Evelyn, Bethany haemoraged and lost 2 litres of blood. Both are now doing fine.
Second the bad news. On our last full day on site without any warning little Midnight had a stroke. Although she tried to eat her favourite veggies and lapped some water (we tried to keep her rehydrated) she passed away while snuggled peacefully. One minute she was active, then she just collapsed on us. I will post a tribute on the rainbow threads.
Third the good news. We had committed to adopt a rescue pig from Walsall RSPCA. Although we were upset on the journey back we were adamant we would honour the commitment. So we collected ASTRO (short for Asteroid, was originally Squeek) yesterday and introduced him to the girls, Star and Twinkle.
Bonding sort of went well with Astro getting squirted a lot in the face (looked like he had been in a shower lol) but the girls accepted him. In fact they have taken it in turns to share a house with him. Star is playing the tease rumble strutting in front of him then going into a house and sort of slamming the door in his face. She then snuggles up to him. Here's a pic of him viewing his new domain.
It's quite ironic as we chose Astro as he was the same colouring as Midnight. We have reached the conclusion that Nature can be cruel sometimes.
