Good or bad idea?

I need some advice, I'm considering moving the pigs as I'm so paranoid with them being downstairs incase someone breaks in and do something bad to the pigs 8.... Yes I know I need help but I'm on edge constantly I think half the fear is someone may break in, which is awful in it's self and the other someone may hurt them :(.

What I am considering is moving them to the spare bedroom, now the spare bedroom is carpet(easy enough to clean), but I have the pigs on a huge bit of vinyl at present and I was just thinking I would move that, and that would be fine would protect the carpet.

As it's really cold at present this is the warmest room in the house so would keep them snug. I'm also sleeping in here at present it would be a tight fit in the sense the cage would be down the side of the bed, but then again there is no one technically in this room except me... Soo it shouldn't really matter.

I would be quite upset that I wouldn't hear them wheeking for veg, but adleast I would know they were safe! Have I officially lost the plot?
 
no i dont think you have lost the plot i dont think the piggies will mind being moved you could try putting a piece of cardboard on top of the carpet and then the vinyl to protect the carpet my sons guinea pig lives in his bedroom the only thing i find is it is a bit of a pain with cleaning him out with having to take his cage base up and down the stairs when it needs cleaning my son likes snoppy in his room
 
I decided to go for it :), The vinyl is waterproof, then towels and fleece :)

There new house looks great. I am sure they will be really happy in there.
 
I think you did a good job. I'm just the same - I've had my pigs indoors for six years, and they have spent a total of just 4 months living downstairs. For around one month in the early days, and then 3 months in 2006. They've lived upstairs most of the time; I thought it would make a nice change to have them downstairs in '06 but it didn't feel right, so after three months they ended up back in my room again. :))

Do you have all your pigs in your room? It's weird how protective we get over our wee friends rolleyes...

I think we are slaves...:))
 
I have all my piggies indoors and look forward to the summer when they can go back to their outside houses and grass run BUT------- I always feel a bit weepy when they have gone out and I miss their company so much ,am I crazy! Still I know it is better for them to be out in the fresh air with lots more space and fresh grass and a grassy bank to explore .HOWEVER I will be bringing them back in at the first sign of poor weather and before the shorter days in other words at the first possible excuse.P.S.We have a little garden seat in the piggie run so that we can sit outside with them and watch their antics.
 
Yep, all mine are in my room Joanne. No room anywhere else in the house now, the twins were tiny babies when the pigs were living downstairs. I was never totally 'comfortable' with not having them in my room, and it felt so empty without them in there.
